Loki did not scoff and roll his eyes, as he had been prone to do with unwanted advice from others. This was something that did somewhat surprise Aragorn and Haldir who had been waiting for it. Legolas knew better though. The boy had been the one to forewarn them of the danger in the first place. His magic was the one who had alerted him to something wrong. Whilst he had acted in a similar manner the time before, that was different. It was obvious that there was something different about the group now than there had been prior. He was not entirely sure what it was, but he was not going to argue with magic. Particularly not one that is obviously so clearly entwined with a being such as Loki.
Loki's magic was not entirely different from Elvish magic. It was, however, almost entirely different from what he had seen of Elestar's magic. Elestar's magic, whilst it had always been quite impressive, was something else. It was very deeply entwined with his own life. Legolas suspected that he would not survive without it, should someone try and rend it from him it would not work because of that. HE was sure that...wherever it was that Loki had came from, therhe ad been those who had tried, and likely they had failed. His magic was different but so much more...at the same time. It was not wise to question beings with such magic. Legolas knew that from his own experiences with his own people. He had inherited some of their power-though not all of course he was only half woodland-and even still it was overwhelming sometimes. He was lucky that he had such patient teachers.
Magic was dangerous in the first place, and not for the faint of heart. He shuddered to think about those who had no idea what they were doing wandering around and shoving magic aside as though it was purposeless or, even worse, trying to hide their magic for whatever reason it may be. He knew that this had to have happened-to some extent-to Loki, and likely for a long period of time as well. Legolas may not be well versed in how things go magically for various beings, but he did know one thing, and that was that Magic did not like to be ignored. It tended to lash out when it was ignored or pushed down for too long. It could also have long term affects, such as it having a 'mind of its own'. It was also likely that, well less likely and more obvious, that Loki had gone through quite a bit of abuse and trauma. The nature of his magic's thoughts was obvious. It had a clear goal to protect, and to harm anyone who threatened that.
Legolas figured that the only reason that he and Haldir were able to get anywhere close to Loki whilst his magic was flaring was because they were similar beings and therefore did not pose much of a threat. It was not necessarily a comforting thought given the fact that their similarities were exactly what made them dangerous, but he also knew better than to look a gift in the mouth. It was the main reason that they had managed to keep Aragorn alive in Lothlorien after all. He still had trouble believing that they had willingly gone along with Gandalf. It had been quite the stupid decision, and he knew that he should have protested more and yet he had not. In some extent, he was also a part of the reason that Loki had freaked out.
"Thank you, for your advice, I, along with everyone here, will keep that in mind," Loki responded simply, surprising Aragorn and Gimli, and Haldir, but Legolas merely gave the other a small smile. how dependent he is upon his magic, and yet how many times has that willingness to listen to it saved us? At least three times now. It is rare to find a being so magically inclined, and even less one that obeys their magick's desires. Many try to control magic, or shove it away fearing it, this is a strange being, that is for certain. Legolas thought to himself.
The leader of the group gave them a curt nod, pulling his horse's reigns and marching them off as swiftly as it was that they had come. Haldir let out a barely escaped breath as Loki seemed to almost drop to the floor as he released the elf. Somewhat surprised, Haldir turned to steady him, giving him a slightly concerned look, which was how he noted the fissures of magic slowly draining from his eyes and lips.
"What..." Loki just shook his head, too tired and exhausted to speak on what he had done, and in truth it was a rather complex form of magic that he probably should not have done given how exhausted he was, but his magic always worked on its own at times, and he supposed that this is one of the things that was necessary, otherwise his magic would not have permitted him to cast the spells necessary in the first place. Haldir, in a surprising state of obedience, did not question him, merely nodding with a reluctant gaze and staying silent. Loki knew that it was not the end, and he would likely be questioned later, but that was something for later, and later was not now.
"We will speak later, of course," haldir muttered and Loki just sighed a small, tired breath, and nodded. It was useless to try and stop Haldir from questioning him, he knew, but he also was more than well aware of how dangerous the other could be, and he had just used a good wealth of magic so he would really prefer to be allayed from questions if possible, at least for the time being, so he did not question it or go against it as he normally would.
Legolas took Haldir's spot, wrapping an arm gracefully around his waist and pulling him forwards with them, allowing Loki to rest more weight upon him. Loki gave the other a fleeting but grateful smile. Loki sighed out and they followed Aragron, who had taken the lead once more. They would be reaching Roahn soon enough, Loki knew. I those people really were the Rohirrim, who seemed to guard the borders of the country, that would mean that they had already crossed the bounds of Rohan, and that meant that they would soon be entering the main city. Hopefully, at least.
