Legolas admired Loki from the mouth of the cave as he fought the creature. It seemed an animal had unleashed itself and taken possession of Loki's body. His dark hair whipped about his face, and his knife expertly plunged into various places among the flesh of the beast. A sort of dark energy was wafting from the both of them, combined it was nearly overwhelming. Loki's skin seemed to grow paler in the moonlight, and Legolas watched with awe as Loki wielded his knife perfectly, and without hesitation. This was a person who knew. He had seen war before, fought in battles. Legolas knew how to pick a person out when they fought, and it was obvious Loki was one of those people. Legolas could tell. The experience showed itself. It showed in the way Loki did not hesitate to attack. It showed in the way he fought with grace and precision. It showed in the lack of disgust as he plunged the knife into the beast. It was obvious, and it makes Legolas wonder.
Loki did not finish the creature off. Something that sort of confused Legolas, but the elder did not question it. He wounded it greatly, before standing before the great beaut and muttering something. Legolas could have sworn when the other turned his eyes had been a bit red, but... he could not be certain. I'd furry had the red bled out of God's eyes as quickly as Legolas saw it.
"Let's go. Quickly." Loki said stalking past Legolas. "The beast will not take lightly to what I have done. It would not surprise me if he found a way to retaliate in vengeance for what I have done to him." Legolas hummed, curious as to how Loki assumed he knew the gender of the creature as well as how he assumed that it would exact revenge, but nodded all the same and followed Loki into the cave. The cave where Gimli was bowed down crying, for the skeletons of his family were lying everywhere.
It would seem that Loki had been correct in his assessment as well. For the moment that they had all entered the tomb-like cave the beast launched its attack and trapped them from within.
"What now?" Frodo asked Gandalf. Loki rolled his eyes.
"What now?" He asked mockingly, with a slight laugh.
Perhaps Loki should be a bit nicer, but he was strained and annoyed. Fighting a beast and not being listened to, hence the reason they were in this mess in the first place because nobody ever listened to him-and now this idiotic question.
"What do you mean what now? What else is there for us to do but continue forwards?" He scoffed at the other. "I suggest we get a move on. We are not the only ones in this blasted cave and I doubt our entrance will be taken lightly by those who inhabit this place." He growled darkly, stalking forwards.
Legolas glanced helplessly between Frodo and Loki. It was obvious to him something was bothering him, and Legolas wanted to know what it was...but at the same time...he knew that the other would not take well to him asking. He would divert the question and not answer a word he said and it would be annoying enough to try and speak in riddles. As much as Legolas loved riddles, he also liked being answered. He was used to having his questions answered. He was a Prince, but this person, this Loki, he did the opposite of that. Refusing to answer him even if he asked should he try. Often speaking in roundabout ways. So much like elves, it made Legolas' head spin with familiarity.
Still, Legolas moved to walk side by side with the mysterious man, as Gandalf led them through the night.
"Are you alright?" Loki gave him a side glare.
"I am fine, Legolas, do not worry about me." He said curtly. Legolas sighed heavily.
"You do not have to tell me. I just...want you to know I am here should you want to talk." Loki closed his eyes and inhaled deeply.
"Thank you for your reassurance, Legolas, but I am fine."
"Very well." Legolas knew the other would say nothing more on the subject. It would be useless to try, and Legolas was not particularly fond of useless pursuits.
"You felt the presence as well?" Legolas decided to ask instead. It was an understandable question, after all. Not many other than elves could feel the presence of dark creatures. Which only added to the mystery.
"Yes, it is not very subtle. The place is choking with it." Loki breathed carefully. "It is vile. Besides, who knows how long this place has been abandoned. It would be more surprising if there was nothing else. Dark creatures like dark and musty places. Places such as this one."
Legolas could not find fault with the other's logic. So he nodded. He desperately wanted to ask about the eyes, but that should likely only anger him, or cause him to close off. Still... he had much to contemplate.
