Haldir was not overly happy that his time with Loki was put to a rather abrupt end, but he also could not say that he would have gotten anymore information even if he had not been interrupted. It was clear that Loki had no intentions of answering any further questioning at the very least. It would be useless to try and continue to talk to Loki in this matter, the other was clearly not going to talk with him any further. It would be pointless, and if Aragorn wished to speak with them, it was likely important and not something that should be halted.
"Very well, Loki and I were just finishing our talk after all." Haldir gave Legolas a small smile, barely there, but Loki noticed it, as he noticed almost...well, everything. He knew that Haldir was overly protective of the Prince, and he could not fault the other for that, but he was getting annoyed at the constant streams of questioning that never really seemed to end, it did not matter what it was, Loki was beginning to think that Haldir would always find a way to talk to him about something that was not okay in his eyes. Loki himself did not care all that much but it was incredibly annoying at best. He was having difficulty trying to focus, or enjoy anything if he was going to have to worry about Haldir questioning him at any chance that the Elf gets. As much as he preferred it to Gimli going on about stupid things or just being an annoying pest, it was still not something he wanted to deal with.
"Loki," Legolas spoke softly, his fingers gently touching the other's shoulder, leaving Loki to blink sharply out of his trance that he had been in previously. He had to stop letting his mind drift, it was getting dangerous to do so, and he was getting kind of tired of being caught off guard. He knew that it was not necessarily anything that he could help, but he could wish that it were not that it was useful or would do anything. the best he could was attempt to watch himself when he noticed he was beginning to drift. It was dangerous, and definitely not something he could continue to repeat at the moment.
"Yes?" Loki muttered, turning to look at the Elvish Prince. He looked anxious, and concerned. Loki wanted to curse, perhaps he had been lost in his thoughts a bit too long after he had called Haldir away. He did not know, and he had never really experienced someone paying attention enough to notice how often it happened, so this was quite...odd for him. Still, he would have to speak to the Princling before he could do anything else. He would talk to Legolas about perhaps getting Haldir off his back, but he knew that would do more harm than good. It was unlikely that Legolas realized the depth of Haldir's protective nature, and if that were the case than he definitely was not going to strong-arm Haldir into listening.
It would do nothing for him in the long run other than obtaining a rather irate Guard of the Elves, and that was really the last thing Loki needed at the moment. It was bad enough he got stuck living when he tried to kill himself, let alone being dropped onto some unknown planet, and now he was in this weird quest that was literally a death sentence but he did not need to be making enemies of the few fragile allies that he had on this planet. Well, he supposed that Haldir was not necessarily an Ally, persay, but he was not an enemy. They were sort of neutral at the moment, and Loki would prefer to manage to keep it that way if that was at all possible. He did not need another person despising his existence.
"Are you alright? Did Haldir say something? I know he can be quite abrasive." Loki raised a brow, questioning that logic. He knew that the Elves were rather...well they did not really like to speak to the point very often. They often used riddles and second handed meanings, something Loki was quite fond of, and held a deep admiration for as well, but Haldir had not really been all that abrasive, though that could be because he had the displeasure of understanding true abrasiveness in the form of the Warriors of Asgard, so he was probably a bit well accustomed to cruel mouths and rude words.
"It is alright, Haldir did no such thing," Loki said simply. He shrugged his shoulder gracefully as he gave the other a small smile. "Barring that it is good that you have someone protective with you at this moment in time. We are doing dangerous things, there could be far worse than an overprotective Elf." Legolas sighed, but understood the logic in that. He still did not know how to take the fact that Haldir seemed to have it out for Loki. The latter had protected them quite a great deal, expended himself at the cost of such things, and even still Haldir was treating him as though he were suspect.
Sure, Haldir may have thought he would not notice, and perhaps at the beginning he could admit he had not, but it was becoming increasingly obvious the more he watched the two interact. Legolas was observant enough to realize that something was not right, no matter what the elder may say. He knew that Haldir could be highly protective, and suspicious of people. He also knew that Loki did not deserve that, not after everything that he had done.He was still appalled that Gandalf left Loki alone in the middle of the Lothlorien forest unprotected and unguarded. Then again, he was just as much to blame, considering he had gone along with the idea in the first place.
"Alright, well, should he begin to get a bit agitating, just let me know and I shall take care of it." Legolas offered, though he knew that it was unlikely that Loki would agree to take him up on that offer. Loki did not seem to be the type of person to want to bother others with something they felt they could handle alone, and as sad of a picture that painted, Legolas knew that he would have to remain keeping a close eye, on both Loki, and Haldir. He knew it was just a matter of time, though, before things got out of hand.
"I see," Legolas stated simply, his blue eyes staring at Loki's. He knew that should he push it would only drive Loki further away, so he did not bother. "Let us go see what Aragorn wishes to inform us of. I am sure that it is likely something important." Loki sighed but conceded. He supposed he should feel grateful after all, he had no illusion that Haldir would have continued on if he had the chance. "Come on," Loki followed Legolas to the clearing where Aragorn was, contemplating whatever it was that Aragorn would wish to speak with them about.
"What is going on?" Loki questioned the moment he and Legolas reached the area. It was clear that nothing was dire, but there was something...going on. If it were urgent, they would have been on the move and ready to go, as it were the Dwarf was lounging, and Haldir did not seem to be in any state of shock or upset.
"I have recieved news that perhaps it would be best if we were to break this venture here, and focus our attentions elsewhere."
"Oh?" Loki questioned, though he was not particularly caring.
"The Hobbits are with the Ents, which means that they are safe. However, Saruman has dispatched a weasel to take over the King of Rohan, and as such, perhaps we should handle that situation there." Aragorn informed then clearly, asking for their opinions. Loki just shrugged.
"If you think that is best, then we should do it." He said simply. He knew Mortal Men well enough that they would not let it go should they not follow through with the request. He did question how this information was gathered, but he also knew that it did not really matter since the Mortal had clearly set his sights on going to Rohan. He did not know where this Rohan was, nor why it was that they seemed so stressed about this situation, but he supposed it did not really matter. He was not of this world, and he did not even really know who this Saruman was, but by the solemn look on Legolas' face he could tell this was vital information. He also did not know what these...Ents were, but it was obvious that neither Legolas nor Haldir seemed to have any reason to worry about the two hobbits anymore. He would wager that was because these Ent creatures were nothing to worry about, or at the very least, not harmful to Hobbits.
