After the early dinner, you all went out to the pool, waiting for the sunset. The Jeon couple shared a reclining lounge seat, sweetly laying side by side while holding a glass of wine. Taehyung on the other hand suddenly opted to take a shower while Jungkook sat by the pool with both legs dipped in the water, looking into the horizon.

Seeing them together felt like you were intruding, so you quietly snuck out and enjoyed the sunset in the front porch, by the swing. In just a few seconds the sun was out as if hiding under the ocean. It wasn't as dark as you expected so you stayed behind for a bit longer.

Not realizing you've been out there for quite some time, you just breathe in the beauty of this calm place. You reflect on what's been going on in your life but your thoughts were suddenly interrupted as the swing halts and Jungkook sits right beside you.

As if your entire body was electrified, you almost jolted as an invisible current traversed your entire body. You're not liking this one bit, how can you act normal around him if the slightest contact of skin between you can already make you weak?

After gathering your messy thoughts, you bravely opened your mouth to apologize but Jungkook beat you to it.

"I'm sorry..." Jungkook said, looking over the beach.

"What? Kook... you're not at fault here..." You said, feeling more guilty than you already do.

"Let me talk first..." He said in a pleading voice before shooting you a side glance that almost made your heart skip a beat. "I don't know why but I feel like I'm failing at this... this role that I willingly accepted from your brother."

"Kook... please..." You started to talk back, not wanting to hear more.

"Eun-ji... I know I'm not good at this, I'm such an idiot for thinking I could even do this..."

"No please... you're nothing like that..."

"Then tell me why I'm miserably failing at looking after you?" He shoots you a pained expression.

"Kook... this is all on me... It has nothing to do with you. I didn't go to family camp because it's what it is, a family thing and I can't just show up by myself." You look down on your lap, fiddling with your fingers, feeling so embarrassed.

"I should've known you'd feel that way..." He started saying back.

"I would've lied even if you did... I'm sorry it's just so hard to show up in school thinking of excuses in my head... I used to be good at making all sorts of reasons why my parents can't come but I just can't go on like this... not anymore."

"You don't have to go through this alone... that's why I'm here okay?"

You look at this precious human being sitting right next to you, pouring out his heart, letting his vulnerability show. How on earth can he be so perfect? Your emotions are heightened and everything just felt comfortable.

Somehow, despite your inner longing to be the one he looks at lovingly with those big eyes, you're more shaken by his honesty. You can see right through him, he really cares... but not in the way you hope for and that is just enough... at least for now.

Jungkook wakes up early to swing by the gym. The clubhouse of this resort is something he looks forward to every summer. By the time he got back, he was greeted with the aroma of freshly cooked pancakes.

He made his way to the kitchen and saw you preparing breakfast. The way you were swaying side to side in your PJs made him smile. You were obviously preoccupied with cooking so he opted to sit by the kitchen counter and waited for you to turn around.

You were dancing to the beat of Taylor's playlist blasting loudly through your wired earphones. You decided to prepare breakfast for these wonderful people who welcomed you in their family while your own is currently going through tough times.

The moment you turned around to set the plate of pancakes on the counter, you're startled by a presence you never expected to see this early. "The fuck!" You blurt out looking so shocked.

"Language!" He barks at you in warning as he wipes off beads of sweat creeping from his forehead.

"You scared me!" You say in reply, reaching out for a sheet of paper towel by the cupboard and dabbing it directly on his forehead. You're suddenly taken aback as he lets you do it. Your heart suddenly makes a flip as he takes your hand to direct it all over his face.

"You know you didn't have to do this right?" He said after letting go of your hand.

"What?" You're caught off guard, thinking he was pertaining to how you wiped off his sweat.

"Cook breakfast... Mom wouldn't mind doing that for all of us."

"Oh right... I just thought of doing something nice as a thank you."

"You really amaze me..." Jungkook bluntly says while you serve him pancakes.

Hearing the compliment almost made you drop the plates. Good thing he reached out to get them from you. "I'm not sure about that..." You replied nervously.

"Well your friend Jimin also thinks your amazing. Come to think of it, I really like that guy. I think he likes you." He says before starting to munch on the stacked pancakes.

Now it was your turn to choke on your food after hearing what he just said so casually. You were about to get water but he beats you to it and was already handing you a bottle.

"Of course he does, he's my friend." You say in defense.

"I know... but he cares for you the most and I like that he does." He gives you a suspicious smile and went on with drizzling more chocolate syrup on his pancakes.

You wanted to tell him that he's mistaken. That Jimin is most definitely not liking you in that way. He likes guys too for crying out loud! But you can't tell him that. It's not your place to reveal such personal information.
