"Eun-ji?"

That deep voice you like so much reverberates in the air. How can he still hold that effect on you? Why does he have to be so perfect? He slowly turns you around with a firm grip on your arm to face him.

"I knew it was you..." He said with a warm smile. "What are you doing here?"

"I'm working here for a school project..." You chirped out, regretting how childish your voice sounded.

"I see... you know my university is just around the corner right?"

"Yeah... I remember." You replied and was quickly distracted by the way he was still holding you by the arm while playing with his car keys on the other.

Judging by the way he still has his knapsack swung over one shoulder, it seemed like he just arrived. "I just got off the truck when I saw you and thought what could possibly bring you here."

"Oh... I didn't see you... Listen, I think I need to go." You said in haste not wanting cause him any delay.

"I'm about to go home too... I just need to drop something off. Can you wait for me here?" He asked as if pleading.

"Sure..." You replied in defeat. What in heaven's name is he doing to you? One request from him is all it takes for your wall to crumble.

You took a seat on the bench by the parking lot while seeing Jungkook off. His full strides looked like he was in a hurry, probably because he doesn't like to keep Liz waiting. Maybe that's how he really loves her. Lucky.

On your way home, Jungkook kept asking about your immersion. You tried so hard to sound unaffected but the short replies didn't conceal how disappointed you felt.

"Hey... you okay?" He asked, eyeing you sideways from the driver's seat.

"Yeah... just tired."

"Oh so that means no dinner?" Jungkook asked in a slow pace, dragging every word as if being careful.

"What?" Your thoughts were suddenly challenged, not knowing what he meant.

"I was planning to grab dinner along the way, there's a really nice taco bar near the university. I know you love tacos."

Not only tacos... but I sure do. What are you doing to me? Why are you doing this to my poor heart. You hurt me one minute then you come back easing my pain away. Those were your unspoken thoughts.

"Maybe we can order takeout instead?" You finally found the words to let out.

"Are you sure you don't want to eat there? The tacos might get soggy by the time we're home... but if it's what you want..."

"Okay, let's just eat there..." You said, almost in a whisper making Jungkook chuckle at the cute way you're talking to him.

*******
He was right, it's probably the best taco you've ever had. Munching on your second taco, you give out an unexpected groan in between chewing and Jungkook chuckled too loudly you almost wanted to die on the spot.

"I think you saw Liz at the cafe huh?" He suddenly asked.

"Yeah... I figured you were meeting her when I saw you at the parking lot."

"Well, to be clear I went in to get these..." He pushed a white envelope from his side of the table to yours.

Too afraid to see what it was, you hesitated for a while before finally mustering up the courage to flip the envelope over. Seeing the engraved writing on the white material made your heart skip a beat or two.

It was clearly a wedding invitation with golden engraving that says.... Kai and Liz. You couldn't hold your emotions as you open the card inside. Liz was getting married to a certain guy named Kai. Wow... that quick?

Lifting your head to see Jungkook, you could tell he was just trying to keep everything calm. He continued eating his taco, probably his third now, like nothing major just happened.

He looked at you before blinking both eyes, that's his usual signal when he wants to reassure you he's fine. After what seemed like an eternity of silence during the entire ride home, Jungkook finally said something.

"Goodnight..." He said after parking the truck in their garage.

"Thank you for the ride... and dinner."

That night, you couldn't help but feel bad for Jungkook. It must hurt to find out that Liz is getting married to another guy. Did she even love him at all? How could she do that to a very kind and wonderful man? What gives her the right to hurt him over and over then just get away with it? Why does she have to get her happy ever after in Jungkook's expense?

Why?...

Simply because she has his heart.
