well, living funerals, also called seizensō, are actually quite a common practice in japan. they are performed by people who know that they do not have much time left living, and it's often used to discuss their will. but it does not make sense for us to have had a seizensō, as it's mainly a practice performed by elders who fell like they are burdening their children with their old age.
