Michael
I lay on my bed staring at the ceiling thinking of Logan. I really hope she's okay... alive at least. I groan loudly and roll over, I hear a knock on my door and I yell muffle through my pillow.
"Come in!" The door opens and I look up to see my mother standing there smiling with a tray of breakfast. I sit up and give her a small smile.
"Good morning dear. Did you sleep well?" She hands me the tray and we both sit cross cross in the middle of my king size bed. I stab at my pancake and pop it in my mouth and chew on some bacon.
"Better than I did Wednesday or Thursday night." I shrug nonchalantly. She nods at me and smiled, and I raise an eyebrow at her.
"What's the special occasion for breakfast in bed?" I ask and she looks down, twisting her wedding ring repeatedly around her finger.
It was her nervous habit.
"Nothing, I just wanted to do something nice for my son and talk to you about... that missing girl." I freeze with my fork of scrambled eggs suspended in the air. I put them back on the tray and listen cautiously to her. She leans in closer to me and talk in a low hushed voice.
"I've been thinking about this and sweetheart, it's Saturday. She's been missing since Tuesday afternoon. You're running yourself ragged and I hate to see you like this. You're lifeless at dinner and you're always at the library printing off those flyers. You get in late from passing them out and when you do get in, you don't sleep. I know you're determined to find her, but you're only one person baby. I hate to see you suffering. I'll take some of your flyers to work with me Monday. Don't hate me when I say this, but I think you should take a break." I stare at her like she's lost her mind as I just process what she just said.
Stop doing all that I could to find Logan?
Was my own mother insane?
I've told her how I felt about Logan, and this is how she helps me?
I shake my head and stare at my now cold half finished breakfast. My mother puts her hand gently on my shoulder and I shake it off and jump off my bed.
"How can you just tell me to 'take a break'? The moment I take a break could be the moment whoever has her KILLS her." I flex my jaw harshly and my mother flinched at my tone.
She gets off the bed and walk towards me. I stare down at her as she slowly reached up to wipe a silent tear from my cheek. She snakes her arms around my waist and I hug her back and bend down to kiss her cheek as she rubs my back gently.
"I'm sorry baby. I know you have feelings for her, but I just want you to take some time for yourself. After this weekend it will almost be a week since she went missing and the cops will soon call off the search. I'm so sorry baby, but I'm not gonna make you do anything you don't want to do." She pulls away and looks up at me. I nod my head and she takes my tray of forgotten food and opens my door.
"Oh and before I forget. The Mangatal's are coming over for dinner tonight." With that, she leaves my room. I go back to my bed, lay back down and groan loudly.
Great...
Now I have to deal with Shana tonight.
I sigh and stare at the ceiling, straight at the flyer of Logan.
I will not stop looking for her...
