Chapter Twenty-EightDarren and Reid are talking to me by my locker about the last game they just had like an hour ago. I was there,I watched the boys play but these two silly clowns are acting like I was legally blind,I could see barely.
"Did you see the third hoop that I scooped after Cameron's sixth? I was literally walking on air," Reid tells me and I chuckle.
"Ree,I saw you play. I was there in the crowd watching you so don't worry,I saw how brilliant both of you played okay?" I finally speak up and they both smile at me.
"Okay," Darren says and I pat his shoulder.
"Now will you guys shut up and go to class now?" I ask of them getting it off my chest.
"Shit, sure. Let's go, Darren. Mrs Winston is tired of us already," Reid tells his best friend teasing me and Darren laughs.
"Okay, make fun of me how you like but I can be Mrs Winston in the near future if Cameron and I allow it. Now go,I will find you both in class," I tell them shutting my locker after taking out my notepad and pencil case.
"What about you? Where are you going?" Darren asks me curiously.
"I'm going to the girls bathroom! Now,take this to my seat for me,will you, please?" I ask of Darren who gladly takes my things from me.
"Don't take too long. Walls have ears, newbie," Reid tells me and he laughs afterwards. Darren playfully hits Reid's shoulder.
"Don't listen to him. You'll find us in class," Darren says and I begin to walk to the girls bathroom.
Did I just hear Reid tell me to not fantasize about Cameron while I'm in the bathroom? Okay, that was weird. Really weird.
I'm in the girls bathroom washing my hands about to head out to class. I'm doing a representation on environmentalism and how to prevent the traditional production of plastic if I had a chance to do that. Of course, I do have a chance and I will change some things around this planet.
I'm ready to make a change after all.
So I quickly dry my hands ready to head out of the girls bathroom and suddenly, Jelena walks into the bathroom locking the door on her way in. What now?
I ignore her and walk up to the door to open but she's blocking me. Okay, this is irritating!
"What do you want now?" I finally ask and she walks up to the sink to have a better look at me. She knows I can just walk out now, right? She's given me an opportunity to just get the heck out.
"You're now friends with his friends, nha? How cute," Jelena mocks and I roll my eyes at her and not say a word.
"What are you doing to Cameron,Kabwe?" Jelena angrily asks me now.
"I don't have an answer for that,Jelena. I really don't," I say.
"I just want to know why are you such an ass? A distraction? A fuck! Cameron was better off without you around," She bitterly speaks to me now and I laugh.
"Okay, let me make things clear. I don't want anymore drama with you, okay? I don't want you to cause me any more pain. I won't let you so please grow up,Jelena. For once in your miserable life, grow up," I tell her and she rolls her eyes at me.
"You are the reason why Cameron won't talk to me anymore. You are the reason why people have stopped paying attention to me! Everybody around the school knows you've got Cameron's attention and I don't find that amusing with my soul," she rants.
"Look,I can't afford wasting my energy standing here with you and letting you say shit I can't relate to. So please,Jelena leave me alone. It's going to be hell on earth if you don't," I tell her and unlock the door to head out.
As soon as I open the door to leave, Jelena yanks my hoodie dragging me back. I then have a quick flashback of what she did to me last semester in the girls locker room where I almost died. Will I let it happen to me again?
I immediately turn around and push her off. She falls to the ground hitting her head on the titled floor. She's okay. For now.
"What the fuck is your problem? I didn't do anything to you!" I tell her angered. She is just looking at me furiously.
"Stay in your lane or I'll make you," I walk out shutting the door on my way out.
What the heck is wrong with her? Isn't she tired of hurting me? Why is she so stuck on me like glue?
I came to get educated here and not start any fights with anyone. I then remember moms words of telling me to stay away from Cameron because he's not my purpose. I came to acquire a very brilliant education for some guy to come around and try to jeopardize it. I then have second thoughts about Cameron.
Is he truly mine? Why is he still around me after all this while? Is it the sex that mom thought he wanted? I guess so because that's what every teenage boy wants. Geez! Shit is wild. What am I going to do?
Should I stay away from Cameron before anything bad happens to me again? I mean he's the reason I got beat in the first place. Jelena is obsessed with Cameron and I bet she'll do whatever it takes to bring me down. But I'm not going down. If I have to,we're going down together.
I'll drag her with me.
