Chapter Thirty-Nine

I am having a great day so far. I got gifts from people in school this morning, apologizing for humiliating me and believing that I would insult them like I don't respect them.

I got "hey's" and "hello's" from people I didn't expect to be greeted by. I got hugs, was told secrets and actually made more friends than usual. But my circle means the world to me, I wouldn't trade it for another.

I had people coming over to my table at lunch and hanging out with my friends and I and I admit,it was fun being around other crazy ass teenagers. I had fun.

I'm in art and design track class with Luwi talking to Miss Heavens our art and design teacher about the theatre play that we're supposed to work on but Luwi is disagreeing upon the idea of performing with either Scarlett or Jelena.

"I don't think I should sing with anybody else. I want an opening one-woman act as I perform on stage. I'm not letting Scarlett or Jelena on this project with me," Luwi tells Miss Heavens.

"But miss Young, every senior is participating on this thing. It's the last show to be put on that will focus on you graduating seniors," Miss Heavens tells Luwi.

Luwi rolls her eyes in annoyance and crosses her arms.

"But I don't want to perform with Jelena or Scarlett," she says again a bit annoyed.

Miss Heavens deeply sighs in frustration. She looks at me.

"Fix her. Fix everything," Miss Heavens says to me and I chuckle.

"I will fix her. I'll fix this," I assure Miss Heavens and she nods in affirmation.

"Please do. I don't want any enemies doing this project when all we're supposed to do is have fun with it. It's your last year here so have fun together and mend your ways with whoever hurt you. Okay, Luwi?" The teacher says.

"I'll think about it," she replies uninterested. I chuckle.

"We will look at how many people are interested in doing this. I mean not everyone is graduating and this is a show for graduating seniors so I've got to look around with Luwi here," I say.

"You'll figure it out but before you leave school today, I'm expecting both of you to come back here with the seniors who have signed up for this. Okay?" Miss Heavens says and Luwi and I nod in affirmation.

"You may leave now," she says and we walk out of the class leaving Miss Heavens alone putting things in order. We're not gonna use that class ever again.

"I wrote a song for the opening act starring non other than me, Luwi Young. The most spectacular and phenomenal being ever to walk this planet earth," Luwi says praising herself as she flings her sheet of music paper in the air.

I laugh and grab the paper from her.

"Shut up. Let me first look at your work," I say as we both walk to our lockers.

Luwi opens up her locker and takes out her track shorts and t shirt.

This entire week is all about having fun in the most intellectual and creative ways ever.
We are graduating a week from now.
Prom before graduation and I don't know whom I'll go with.

I don't have a boyfriend remember? He doesn't know that yet which sucks but he's supposed to get the message.

"This is beautiful. I can imagine the spotlight on you, some purple and pink sky background with some fog and shit. Baby, you'll be on fire," I tell my best friend as I give her back her work.

"Thank you,Kay. I'll be playing piano and doing a little bit of choreography. I'm dancing with Fiive Willie Nelson. Remember him?" She asks.

"Oh,yeah,I know his ass," I reply remembering the guy who flirts with Georgie all the time.

"Good because hot guys are supposed to be remembered," Luwi playfully notifies me and I smile at her approving.

I take out my track suit as well and shut my locker ready to head to the training pitch outside. Suddenly, I spot Karan walking with Scarlett beside him. They are happily conversating and I am in awe.

"Lu,are you seeing this?" I ask my best friend dumbfounded about this sight heading towards me.

"See what?" She asks. She's on her phone.

"Look," I tell her as I point at karan who Is walking our way.

Luwi looks up and sees Scarlett with the guy she has always loved but too scared to tell him.

"What the fuck!" She cusses.

"Hey guys," Karan greets Luwi and I as he approaches us.

"Uh,Karan Singh,what the fuck are you doing with Scarlett fucking Hemsworth?" Luwi asks pissed.

"She's signed up for the 'Senior Year Spectacular'. She's performing as 'Hue Simmons' in the play," Karan responds joyfully as if he's not with a person who used to cuss at him.

Scarlett on the other hand looks uncomfortable. She is awkwardly standing in posture and looks quite humble.

She then looks at me. 

"Hey,Kabwe. I love your outfit," she compliments me and I don't say a word to her.

I mean how can I? She's a bully.

Karan takes out his robotic text books and blueprints of his robotics designs from his locker and looks at Luwi and I.

"Shall we all head to our classes? I'm heading to my elective class so you three girls need to head to track... Together," he says and we don't say a shit.

Silence just invades. Karan then sighs.

"Okay,uh,Kabwe? Scarlett is the reason you're back to school again. She spelt the beans and told the principal that Jelena was the one who framed you. She and Mrs Charlotte announced the whole entire truth last week," Karan tells me and I'm dumbfounded.

Luwi sarcastically laughs. She doesn't believe what she's hearing.

"I don't believe this. Are you telling the truth?" Luwi asks Karan.

"Have I ever desired to lie to any of you two? Of course, that's the truth. So warm up. See you guys after class. Georgie is outside waiting for y'all," Karan says and walks off.

Luwi, Scarlett and I are just standing in the hallway by the lockers staring at each other.

What to say?

Luwi suddenly speaks up to Scarlett.

"Glad you told the truth and freed my best friend from the bondages of Jelena. I'm not gonna cuss at you but I'll just say thank you for being human for once."

Scarlett nervously chuckles and smiles.

"I just wanted to do the right thing, that's all," she replies and Luwi nods in affirmation.

I don't say a shit to appreciate her gesture but I acknowledge her "goodness".
