(Erling's POV)

I continued to sharpen the broadsword when a high pitched moaning sound blasted across the sky. I ran over to the window trying to get a glimpse of the beast.

"Night Fury! Get down!" At that many Vikings took shelter. The Night Fury then shot one of its purple blasts at one of the catapults, completely destroying it.

I watched in awe of how fast the creature could move around in the air. I turned around to get back to work, but saw Gobber switch his hammer hand for an ax. He then turned to me and Hiccup, pointing his finger at us.

"Man the fort, Hiccup, Erling. They need me out there." Before he leaves he glares at us. "Stay. Put. There. You know what I mean." He said before charging into battle with a yell. I then lightly punched Hiccup's shoulder.

"Come on, we only have a little bit of time left before he comes back." I said. Hiccup then nodded.

"Ok Just let me get another bola for the machine." He said before running off.

(Short Time skip)

I pushed the doors open as Hiccup runs out with his bola thingy, I quickly begin to follow the other lanky boy.

"Hiccup, Erling, where are you going!?"

"Come back here!" Many angry Vikings yelled as we ran away.

"We know. Be right back!" I yell back while waving my hand at them, laughing.

"Hiccup, turn right!" I shouted, directing him more towards the quieter areas.

We both then stopped at the top of a small hill overlooking a burnt catapult. Both me and Hiccup then start setting up our contraption. There was only one bow so only one of us can shoot, we both look at each other. I then made a gesture with my hand.

"You do it, you've wanted to do this more than me." I said with a smile, he smiled back before getting in position.

"Come on. Give me something to shoot at, give me something to shoot at." He said while looking around.

"Hiccup I don't think saying that will make something magically appe-" I was cut off by the catapult exploding with a purple light. Hiccup then pulled the trigger, trying to hit it, there was a whacking sound before the Night Fury screeched.

Hiccup and I watched as the dragon fell towards the forest. We both look at each other before Hiccup gets up and starts to cheer.

"Oh I hit it! Yes, I hit it! Did anyone else see that!" He shouted in victory, raising his arms. I then felt a gaze from behind me, I turned and saw.

"Uh... Hiccup." He then turned to see the Monstrous Nightmare climbing over the cliff, Hiccup then dropped his arms.

"Except for you." He said before we started screaming and running away from the dragon. I saw a small hammer on the ground, I picked it up quickly and threw it at the dragon's head. The beast then put all of its attention onto me as I ran towards the plaza in the village.

"Shit, Shit, Shit" I said as the dragon got closer. I kept jumping to the sides trying to avoid the deadly flames of the beast, I then hid behind one of the many massive torches in the plaza. The Nightmare then blew his flame to where I was behind the torch.

The creature then moved to be right next to me to make the finishing blow, I closed my eyes and waited for the pain. I then heard the dragon make a squawking noise, I opened my eyes and peered around the torch to see Stoick fighting the dragon.

The Nightmare then tries to torch Stoick only for it to cough up smoke, Stoick then smirks at this.

"You're all out." He said before he started to hit the Nightmares face repeatedly in the face until it flew away. He then turned to the scorched torch.

Oh, and there's one more thing you need to know...

The torch then collapses making the metal bowl on top crash around the village. I winch at all the destruction it's causing before turning to the Viking in front of me.

"Sorry, dad." I said while grabbing my left arm with my right hand. Hiccup then ran towards me to see if I am okay, Hiccup then turned to our dad trying to defend us.

"Okay, but we hit a Night Fury." He says quickly before dad grabs our collars and starts dragging back to the house, Hiccup continues to try and reason with him as just stay quiet.

"It's not like the last few times, Dad. I mean we really actually hit it. You guys were busy and I had a very clear shot. It went down, just off Raven Point. Let's get a search party out there, before it-" Hiccup began to ramble.

"STOP! Just...Stop." Dad yells as he releases the collars of our shirts.

"Every time you both step outside, disaster follows. Can you not see that I have bigger problems? Winter's almost here and I have an entire village to feed!" He said, waving his arms around. I then looked to the ground in shame not wanting to see the familiar look of disappointment on his face. Hiccup on the other hand didn't even seem phased.

"Between us, the village could do with a little less feeding, don't ya think?" He said, I shoved his arm a little trying to tell him that it's not the time for jokes.

"This isn't a joke, Hiccup!" He then sighs "Why can't either of you follow the simplest of orders?" He asked.

"I can't stop myself. I see a dragon and I have to just...kill it, you know? It's who I am, dad. And it's the same for Erling." I looked up at him in shock, since when did I ever say that is what I wanted to do?

"You two are many things, Hiccup, Erling. But dragon killer is not one of them. Erling is even training to become a healer, Hiccup." He said making me more nervous on how many eyes are on us. Dad then sighed.

"Get back to the house." he then turned to Gobber "Make sure they get there. I have their mess to clean up." He said in a very disappointed voice, making me feel even worse. I couldn't hear anything, I was too focused on how much I had let dad down. I didn't even hear any of the snide comments the other teens made.

When we got to the house Hiccup went on a little rant on how dad didn't want us as his sons. I tried to ignore how true Hiccup statements were. Gobber tried to make us feel better but it didn't really work.

"We just want to be one of you guys." I said in a quiet whisper, Gobber sent us both a sympathetic smile. As soon as the door was closed Hiccup whipped around to me, making me jump.

"I'm going to go look for the Night Fury, do you want to come?" He asked.

"I would but there's something I need to do, and then I can also cover for you when dad comes home." I said. He looked a little sad that I wouldn't be going with him.

"Alright." He said in a sad tone. I then placed my hand on his shoulder.

"When you get back, tell me everything that happened. Ok?" I asked and he nodded, he then quickly ran out the back door.

'Alright, now it's time to go visit Bjorn.'
