(Erlings POV)
This is Berk
It's twelve days North of hopeless, and a few degrees South of freezing to death.
It's located solidly on the meridian of misery.
Our village. In a word, sturdy. And it's been here for seven generations, but every single building is new.
We have fishing, hunting, and a charming view of the sunsets.
The only problem are the peat. You see, most places have mice or mosquitos.
We have...
"DRAGONS!" I say as me and Hiccup slam the door close as a Monstrous Nightmare fires at us. After the dragon leaves, me and Hiccup heave the door open and start running through the chaos of the angry vikings and dragons.
Most people would leave. Not us. We're vikings. We have stubbornness issues
Hiccup and continue to try and weave our way in between the swinging axes of vikings.
My name's Erling (Air-ling). It means Chieftain. I guess my parents believed that I was supposed to be next in line, but the title should be going to my older brother Hiccup.
Suddenly there was an explosion knocking both me and Hiccup down. As we were lying there a Viking named Hakon the Hairy (Not his real name), He then began to yell.
"Arggghhhhh!, Mornin'!" He shouted before running off. I quickly got up and helped Hiccup up onto his feet. We then continued our journey going through the mess of vikings.
Meet the neighbors. Hoark the Haggard...
"What are you doing out!?" Hoark shouted
...Burnthair the Broad...
"Get inside!" Burnhair hollered
...And Phlegma the Fierce.
"Get back inside!" She ordered.
We continued on our running ignoring the shouts at us. I noticed a dragon began to spew fire along the road we were about to cross. I quickly grabbed onto the back of Hiccup's fur vest to stop him from going any further. At the same time someone else grabs the back of my shirt pulling us both out of harm's way. I look up seeing a very familiar face.
"Erling!? Hiccup?!" The man shouted before turning to the surrounding vikings.
"What are they doing out again!?" He once again shouted as the flames began to grow around them.
"What are you two doing out?! Get inside!" He then placed us down, before pushing us towards the blacksmith.
That's Stoick the Vast. Chief of the tribe. They say that when he was a baby he popped a dragon's head clean off its shoulders.
Do we believe it? Yes we do.
"Hoist the torches!" I heard from behind me, Many massive flaming torches had begun to rise exposing the many dragons in the sky. I turned to Hiccup, making him look at me.
"Come on, we're almost there!" I yelled over the loud noises from around us. Hiccup nodded and I grabbed his hand pulling him along, which wasn't very since I had a bit more muscles then him.
We finally arrived at the black where an older blond viking with one hand and leg. He then turned towards us.
"Ah! Nice of you to join the party. I thought you'd been carried off." He says. Hiccup then tosses me my leather apron.
