~(Y/N)'s POV, one week later~
I inhaled and exhaled, sitting in my car. Aliza sat next to me, playing with her fingernails. I reached over and grabbed her hands, causing her to look at me. "Stop worrying, Aliza. I'm sure it'll be fine." "It would be easier to relax if you weren't worrying, too." I rolled me eyes and got out, watching her nervously get out. Sans was outside waiting for us, and he looked just as, if not more nervous. "H-Heya, kiddos..."
I sighed and shoved past him. "What's their deal?" he asked Aliza. "Let's just get this over with so I can go back to sleep," I said, anger rising in my voice. "They...didn't sleep last night," Aliza said. I sighed as Sans placed his bony hand on my shoulder. "Ya...really should sleep, (Y/N)." "I...I know, Sans. I just...was a bit anxious, is all." Sans gave a gentle smile and patted my shoulder twice before letting go completely.
We walked into the house together, the silence becoming ominous. I noticed Papyrus was no where to be seen. "Where's Papy?" "Ah...he's out hangin' with Grillbz. Dunno when those two got so close. Ya should really meet G, too..," Sans said, trailing off. "One at a time, Sans...one at a time." Sans nodded and we made our way up the stairs, Sans in front followed by me, then Aliza. Sans opened the door and I sucked in a breath for what waited on the other side...
Dust.
"Heya, Dust, I uh...brought (Y/N)..," Sans said, rubbing his neck. "...leave us," Dust said, his voice as quiet and smooth as ever. Sans looked at me, checking if it was okay. I nodded and walked in, hearing Sans shut the door behind me. I gulped and watched Dust stand there, his eyes being the only things visible. "...Hey," he said suddenly, making me jump a bit. What can I say? I'm in a room with someone that was seriously considering my murder.
"Hi." "...what's...up..?" I started laughing a bit, which startled Dust. "You're, uh, not very good at conversing, Dust," I said, making Dust nod a little. I walked over to Sans' bed and sat down, patting the side next to me. Dust slowly made his way over and sat down. "...So, um..," he started, but quickly went silent. It was awkward, sure, but I was really enjoying him trying. "I noticed you seem fond of Papyrus."
Dust turned to me quickly, well, like a normal person, but quick for him. "How'd you-" "I can tell things like that. You really like Papyrus and you really don't like humans. The last part, some goop freak told me." Dust chuckled a bit, a mix between weird and cute. Weirdly cute. "Nightmare. He's, uh...my boss." I nodded and looked towards the hole in the wall from one of Dust's attacks. "He said as much. I don't really like him, he's an asshole." Dust snickered before starting to laugh.
~Dust's POV~
"He said as much. I don't really like him, he's an asshole." I tried not to laugh and failed miserably. When I heard (Y/N) start laughing too, I felt my face heat up. They had such a nice laugh. Not to mention kind eyes. You might be thinking" 'Dust, don't you hate (Y/N)?' Answer: ...not really. Horror set up cameras in his living room to capture (Y/N) and Papyrus hanging out. They would talk about puzzles and watch TV and come up with new recipes.
They seemed to treat Papyrus like...like Frisk used to. When Frisk wasn't corrupted by...that demon child. I tried not to think about it and focus on (Y/N). When I turned, they were looking at me with concern in their eyes. Not pity. "There we go. I've been calling your name for a few minutes, I was getting worried." Worried? About me? They...are a kind human. "I'm...fine. Thanks, (Y/N)." Their cheeks got darker and they scratched their neck, a nervous smile on their face.
"No problem, Dust. I space out a lot, too." I leaned back and laid on Horror's bed. Not as comfy as the ones back at the castle. (Y/N) laid beside me. "So, what's your favorite color?" I asked, turning to (Y/N). Their eyes were trained on the ceiling as they answered. "Green, like Aliza's eyes. You?" "Red, like..." Like Papyrus's scarf. "Don't worry about telling me why. Sa- Horror said that...that your past wasn't the best. Nothing more than that, though!" They said, turning to look at me.
I would be mad at Horror for telling other people my business, but...but something about (Y/N) calmed me, in a way. Maybe it was because they reminded me of how Frisk used to be. "What's your...favorite food?" "Hm, that's tough one...anything S- Horror cooks is awesome, but Papy's spaghetti has gotten really good! You should try it!" I smiled a bit and looked up. "My favorite is Pap's spaghetti, too..." They let out a small chuckle and turned to look at me. I tried not to let myself get embarrassed.
"Hey Dust? Why do you always wear your hood up?" I turned to look at them, which was a bad idea, because their shining (E/C) eyes began boring into mine. I felt my face heat up again and sat up. "It's dark. I like it dark..." They got up and walked towards the door. Did I say something wrong? The room was suddenly much darker, and I looked over to see that (Y/N) had turned the switch off. The only light was from the window. "There, is that better?" I felt my face heat up again. "Y-Yeah, thanks..."
They came and sat next to me again, smiling. "So...about that hood..." I hesitated before pulling it down, watching as (Y/N)'s eyes and smile widen. "You're bones are really nice. They're not cracked or dull..." Their hand gently touched my cheek, their thumb rubbing over the bone. "And smooth, too. Horror's bones are all jagged and scarred." Their hand was suddenly gone, along with the warmth of their skin.
"You don't seem half-bad, Dust. In fact, I think you're pretty cool," they said, standing up again. "Now, how about you come downstairs and meet Aliza, the eleven year old who freed the monsters? She's like a little sister to me, and to Horror." As tired as I was from even coming here, I didn't want to upset (Y/N) again. My mind flashed to them being angry at me to crying in Pap's arms. No, they were already hurting inside. Why would I make it even worse? "Sure, after you."
