After explaining everything that happened to Eddie, he takes it...fairly well. For what it's worth, I'm just glad he didn't freak. We then left for the day, promising to return tomorrow.
Now, we're in Steve's car, on our way to see Eddie. "Hold up, we got everything, right?" Dustin asks, rooting through the bags of things we are bringing for Eddie. "For the last time, Dustin, yes." Robin says, rolling her eyes. I'm sitting in between Dustin and Max in the back seat of the car. As Dustin and Robin banter, Steve focuses on driving, clearly ignoring them. I turn my head to look at Max, who has her headphones on and is staring out the window. "Hey." I say, nudging her. She looks at me and pauses whatever song she's listening to.
"What...up?" She asks, kinda awkward. After yesterday, we held hands for a good few minutes because we sat with Eddie. Max and I sat close to each other, but didn't hold hands again. I like to think this is us, moving past whatever happened. But then again, recently, I don't know Max. She's been....distant. Now, she's looking at me awkwardly, fidgeting with the cords of her headphones. "Nothing, just....you seemed deep in thought." I say. "I..Yeah, I guess." She mutters, looking down. "Penny for your thoughts?" I ask, offering a small smile. She smiles back, thinking before shrugging. "Yeah, sure. I-" She gets cut off by Steve. "We're here." I look back at the redhead and she just smiles. "Later."
Carrying multiple plastic bags, we walk to the shed and Dustin opens the door, to which we hear a shout and I look over to see Eddie, in panic before realising it's us. "Delivery service" Dustin says, a grin on his face. Eddie calms down and we close the door, sitting around a small rowboat where Eddie sits.
"So we got, uh, we got some good news and some bad news." Dustin says after a while of Eddie munching on cereal. "How do you prefer it?" He adds. Eddie looks at us like it's obvious. "Bad news first, always." Dustin nods slowly, looking at me. "Alright, bad news....Y/N?" He asks, clearly not wanting to give the bad news. I sigh, standing from my place beside Max and looking at Eddie. "We used our cerebro to listen in to the Hawkins PD dispatch. What we heard is....that they're looking for you..." I say, watching as Eddie's expression morphs. "They're also pretty convinced that you...uh, that you killed Chrissy." I add. "Like, 100% kind of convinced." Max adds and I nod to her. "That. Yup." I say.
"A-and the good news?" Eddie asks, now slightly pale. "Your name hasn't gone public yet." Robin says. "But if we found out about you, it's only a matter of time before others do too, and once that gets out, everyone and their shallow-minded mother is gonna be gunning for you." She adds. Eddie sighs, staring into nothing. "Hunt the freak, right?" He asks no one. "Exactly." Robin says. "So, before that happens, we need to find Vecna, kill him, and prove your innocence." Dustin says, as if it was child's play. Eddie tilts his head, clearly on the verge of freaking out. "That's all, Dustin? That's all?" He asks, sarcastically.
Dustin, being the innocent but oblivious person he is, just nods. "Yeah, no, that's pretty much it." He says. "Listen, Eddie." Robin cuts in. "I know everything Dustin is saying sounds totally delusional, but we've actually been through this kind of thing before." She says. "I mean, they have. A few times, and I have...once." She adds. She then starts babbling. "Mine was more, human-flesh based and theirs was more smoke-related, but the bottom line is, collectively, I really feel like we got this." She finishes.
"We usually rely on this girl who has superpowers...But, uh, those went bye-bye so..." Steve adds. "So we're technically in more of a..." Robin starts. "Kind of a..." Steve trails as Max finishes it for them. "Brainstorming phase." She says. "There...there is nothing to...worry...about." Dustin says as Eddie just stares at him, clearly not buying it. But before he can say anything, we hear police sirens in the distance. "Shit. Eddie, tarp. Now." I say. "Tarp, tarp." Robin adds as Eddie flings the tarp over his head and the rest of us quickly run to the window. I look at the others, and they look back at me. "Follow?" Dustin asks me. I nod. "Follow."
