(A/N: There will be a lot of talk about culture, specifically Lebanese culture. As I mentioned in past chapters, Fred comes from a Lebanese background, I'm not sure if he is the first generation, so in this story, we are going to pretend that he is. I love when people express their cultures and I wanted to include that in this story. So again, if you aren't comfortable with this, I suggest you either stop reading the story or wait until the next chapter. Thanks.)

FRED'S POV:

New York, October 20, 1985

About 2 weeks have passed since our first kiss and we have made some progress.

Not a lot but I still consider it to be a lot, especially for me.

A few kisses on the cheek or close to the lips but nothing official yet.

But today, since I am officially an adult, I want to do something different.

So I have been in the kitchen with my mom patiently waiting for Eric to arrive at my home.

We decided that instead of buying one of those stale and bland cakes from the store, Eric and I are going to make my birthday cake from scratch.

I was excited because I would get to try something new with Eric. You know, spend time with him and have some fun.

So, here I was helping my mom cook one of my favorite dishes while waiting patiently.

My ears perked up when there was a sudden knock on the door.

"I got it!"

I yelled as I quickly dropped everything and went to the sink to wash my hands.

Once I did, I practically ran over to the front door.

"Fred! No running in the house!"

My mom yelled at me in Arabic.

I look through the peephole to make sure it was who I was expecting.

I smiled when I saw Eric standing there.

I smiled and quickly opened the door.

"Hey! Hap-"

I quickly cut him off by getting on my tip toes and pecking his lips. Which caught him off guard.

"Well, someone is in a great mood today."

He said.

"Well guess who is officially an adult?"

I asked.

He smiled.

"You are!"

"Exactly."

"Well, at least warn me next time so I can kiss you back."

"Fine. Kiss me?"

I asked with a smile as I looked up at him.

He chuckled before leaning down a bit, I leaned up and cupped his face. Our lips meet. As cliché as it sounds, it was magical. The butterflies in my stomach were wild.

When we pulled away, we looked into each other's eyes for what seemed like forever.

"Oh, here. Happy birthday."

He said as he handed me a balloon that had Happy Birthday on it, on the string, there was an envelope that had been taped to it.

"Thank you. You didn't have to get me anything."

"Of course I did."

"Well, thanks. Come on in."

I said as I stepped aside.
