Natasha and Clint had both accepted the jobs from S.H.I.E.L.D. and they were proud to be agents for this facility. They both had trained hard and became each other's work partner. During the few first months of knowing each other, they would make small talk and get to know more and more about each other.

Clint had found out a lot about Nat. He knew that when she was having a bad day or was really upset about something, she'd whisper things to herself in Russian. He also knew that she liked to sing Russian lullabies while she worked. He had listened to them all over and over again and he never had the heart to tell her that her mic was still on. He listened to the so much that he could sing them too. He had even searched them up so he knew what they meant. Those were the good things that he had learned about her. He knew what had happened to her when she was a kid. He knew that she couldn't have kids, that she hated ballet, she was ashamed of her past, that she was hoping to start over.

Natasha had been talking to him more and more through out these months. She knew he liked when he could tlak with somone who knew sign language. She even stayed up for a week straight so she could learn all the basic things she needed to know to sign with him. She talked to him about his past and about what he wanted to do when he was a kid. She figured out what subjects made him happy, and which ones didn't. She came to realize that she held more in common with him than she had with anyone before. And she realized that she had done the one thing she was afraid of, she had fallen in love with Clint Barton.

Her number one rule was "Don't fall in love and don't get attatched." Because she knew all to well that anyone that got close to her died, and she didn't want that to happen to him. She tried to push him away, to save him from the impending doom, but he never would leave. Now she knew it was too late to let him leave.

One day, a Saturday, Clint kept trying to get her to go out with him on a normal date.

"Being in Budapest on a mission is not a normal date." He insisted. "At least come to the mall with me to get some new things, please?" He had those damned puppy eyes that could make her melt and he knew it would work.

"Fine." Natasha sighed and put a jacket on. She was wearing a normal outfit for once, she had a tshirt on with a hoodie over it and a pair of jeans on. To anyone else, Nat would look just like your neighbohood friendly adult. But Clint knew that the hand in her pocket wasn't holding a phone or a wallet, it was holding her small hand held gun.

Clint had left her at Victoria's Secret and went to get something. When Nat walked out of the store, he was already back and waiting for her. He took her around and talked with her. She was happy that she had made the decision to come here with him. He led her outside and back to his truck. It was a nice newer model. He opened the door for her and closed it too. When he got in he stuck his hand in his jacket pocket and pulled out two small jewelry boxes.

"Hey, Nat?"

"Yeah?"

"Can I tell you something?" He was nervous, so was she.

" Of course, you can tell me anything." She smiled reassuringly even though her stomach was knotting up and making her sick.

"Nat, I really, really like you. I would jump in front of an arrow for you and I want you to know that. I never really believed in the whole 'true love' thing but you've made me realize that it can come true. What we have been doing isn't an actual realtionship, and I wanted to ask you if you'd be mine?" He pulled open one of the boxes that had a ring made of black metal since she didn't like shiny things, and in the middle of the top of the ring was a bright red blood diamond. It was the colors of a black widow.

She already knew what her answer was, it was clear from the moment she met him. But for some reason she couldn't bring herself to say yes, she was choked up and teary eyed, both from joy and fear. Instead, she nodded and hugged him. When she finally said yes, it came out in a small and weak voice.

She pulled back from him and they were both smiling, and for the first time, she felt like she didn't need to worry. She felt complete trust in him and that he wouldn't ever leave her side. They both leaned forward and their lips met. It wasn't like one of those stupid rom-com moments. It was their first kiss, and it happpened in the front seat of his truck, in a mall parking lot. No matter what other people thought or said, they thought it was perfect like that.

She ended up getting a necklace with an arrow on it and wearing it all the time. In turn, Hawkeye got a tattoo of a black widow over his heart.

And so it seemed that everything in their life was perfect, but not for long, we'll talk about that later. They had made S.H.I.E.L.D. lose any record of them being married or a thing so no one could use that information against them. They had their own house out in the middle of nowhere, no one but them new about it. They found the silence of the country side comforting after voming home from a mission. Many times one of them would come back and not speak or eat for days. Eventually the other one would calm them down and get them back to normal, but sometimes, during the dark times, it wouldn't work at all.

One day Natasha had come home, she didn't say anything to him when she walked in. She just dropped her bag, walked over, and hugged him tightly. He knew better than to ask what happened, so he just embraced her and sang to her quietly.

"Londonskiy most padayet vniz,

Padeniye , padeniye vniz,

Londonskiy most padayet vniz,

Moya prekrasnaya ledi ." he rocked her back and forth and sang the children's nursery rhyme, London Bridge Is Falling Down. She seemed to calm down a little. He stroked her hair and continued.

"Postroit' yego s dereva i gliny ,

Derevo i glina , derevo i glina ,

Postroit' yego s dereva i gliny ,

Moya prekrasnaya ledi ."

He got her to go lay down in bed and he laid with her. He wrapped his arms around her and held her hands. Natasha was staring off at the wall but she squeezed his hand, acknowledging that he was there with her and that she wan't alone. He kissed her hair and told her to rest, which she did. That didn't do her much good. Clint woke up to Nat silently crying because of what she dreamed.

Gently, he turned her over to face him and he wiped away her tears.

"Hey, it's okay." He comforted her like she had done for him so many times before. "It's okay, I'm right here, Nat."

"P-please don't leave me, I don't want to lose you." Whatever was said to her on that mission had shaken her up pretty badly. He knew that eventually some one would figure it out and use their relationship against them.

"You aren't going to lose me. I promise I won't ever leave your side. Whatever happened to you, or whatever was said, it isn't true. I will be by your side until my very last breath. I vowed to protect you and stay with you through sickness and in health, and I'd never forgive myself if I wasn't. Just take a deep breath and relax. You need some sleep, I'll be here when you wake up."

She closed her eyes and held onto his hand for dear life, afraid that he would be taken away form her if she let go. When she finally fell asleep, Clint could see her physically relax and her pained expression was gone. She looked peaceful, except the tear stained cheeks and the bruis above her right eye. He wanted to kill anyone who dared to hurt her in any way. He realized that someday, maybe not any time soon, they would have to retire from this life style and actually settle down. He liked the thought of neither of them having to worry on a daily basis that the other had gotten hurt, or worse. He just knew that he loved Natasha.
