"No, no, no, no, no, no." Johnny frantically repeats, going over to his bag and pulling out the LED flashlight.
"It's okay, no one saw me." Lucia says, trying to reassure him.
"Please tell me there was another briefcase, okay? Just tell me there was another one."
"I don't know. This money's for us. We can get away from everyone."
Johnny turns on the light and shines it on the bills, flipping through a stack.
"What are you doing?" She asks.
"Shit!" Johnny groans. "Shit, shit, shit, shit, shit." he places his hands in his face, before standing up and turning away from the girl sitting on the bed. "Shit! Shit!" He takes a second, then begins pacing back and forth in the small motel room, "Okay, look... Sid's gonna get there, there's gonna be no briefcase..." he begins mumbling.
"Sid? Oh, no." she stands up and frowns her brows, "What are you?"
Johnny keeps his back to her, "What does that mean?" he whispers.
"It means what are you, Johnny? Policia federal? Hmm, FPM?"
"FBI." he answers.
Lucia brows shoot up at the confession.
"I couldn't tell you until after the arrests."
"You are a liar. A piece of shit." she yells.
Johnny turns around and starts to walk over to her, "I'm not a liar–"
"Don't touch me!" she shoves him away, turning her back to him. "Who are you arresting? Carlito or my father?"
Johnny takes a couple steps forward before answering, "Both. Look, you said so yourself. You don't want them."
"I don't want them in prison." she snaps, turning to face him. "This isn't the way."
"This is the only way. You can't have both! What'd you think? We're gonna move to New Zealand? Look up at the southern cross? Come on! You'd be lucky to live out your whole life hiding and scared. Now, I'm gonna take that back before someone notices it's gone." he decides, closing the case. "Look, if the bureau thinks you're involved I can't protect you, okay? Just stay here, keep the blinds closed."
"I'm coming with you." she states.
"No, you're not! This ain't a game!" he shouts.
"You can't walk into that house with a briefcase full of money. I can."
Johnny sighs in defeat, knowing she's right.
Briggs, Sid and his team were still sat in the large SUV, not yet making it into Mexico when Sid asks, "Paul, you've been in L.A. for like a month now, yeah?"
"Yeah, yeah, about that." he nods from the back seat.
"And where you end up hanging your hat?" Sid asks, looking at Briggs from the rearview mirror.
Briggs thinks for a second, "I got myself a little bungalow over in Playa Del Rey. Other than I know a bit too much about my neighbor's sex life, it's good."
"All right, you by the water?"
"Uh, no, actually over closer to Loyola Marymount." Briggs continues to explain.
"Shit, man. I had to park my ass underneath a Christian college, I'd be out at Pepperdine." one of the teammates, Archie, commented.
"Right." Briggs lightly chuckles.
