Z,

I paced back and forth in my room. From the door to the window. From the window to the door. It was 01 am, and everyone else was sleeping away and jumping over clouds in their dreams, but I was up and stressing. My room was clean, I had made an extra effort since Harry was going to stay the night. Got new sheets, cleared out the dust, and made sure everything was neat. I even cleaned out the bathroom. Everything was ready to receive Harry for the night.

So, where the fuck was he?

I had sent him four messages since he left and the last one, read:

Harry: "Heading to Olivia's. I'll keep you posted."

After that, complete silence. I spent the rest of the day with my mother, we talked, I showed her the premisses and introduced her to Anne - they hit it off right away. During that time Harry and I texted back and forth with me doing it as discreetly as possible. But, after that last one was complete silence, and I was worried.

I had sent four texts already at different times.

Me: "So, how are things? Having fun?"

"Hello? You promised you'd text."

"Must be having a great time, then."

"Harry?"

To which he didn't respond, at all. So, now I was worried. Could he have left me? Was he tired of me? Had I been annoying? Had I shared too much?

I played back in the day and it all seemed normal: he met my mother, we talked, we had a light snack with her and then he left. I saw Harry speak to his mother before leaving, hugging her and he sent me a goodbye kiss from a distance. I saw his car drive away, wishing he'd stay and that was it.

Silence.

My heart was so tight with fear and uncertainty. I couldn't even think properly. I walked back to the window, hoping I'd see Harry come through the trees or walk around the Centre. Anything! Something! But no, just darkness outside and a rather cold night.

I stormed out of my room, ignoring the fact that it was past curfew. What if Harry was outside standing in the cold because some dumb fuck locked the kitchen door?

I walked down the stairs, turning left towards the kitchen. I went straight to it, across the kitchen and right to the door that led to the back of the building. I was hoping the moment I unlocked the door; Harry would appear and curse me out for taking too long to read his mind. We would kiss and I'd warm him in my bed.

However, the door was indeed unlocked and, when I opened it, there was no one on the other side. No Harry. No nothing.

My heart tightened a bit more. I walked back to the lobby, could Harry have come in through the front?

I found Anne standing with her back to me and a little bit hunched over.

"Anne?" Harry's mother turned to me and I saw the tears in her eyes. On one hand, Anne held her phone so tight her knuckles were white and on the other her car keys. She seemed to be completely out of it. I approached her with caution. "Anne?"

Suddenly, her blue eyes focused on me. I knew. I fucking knew it had to be something with Harry.

"What happened?"

Anne blinked my question away, allowing tears to roll down her face.

"It's Harry." the nurse explained in a whisper. "He's in the hospital."
