Simamkele's pov:
It's been 5 years since that incident, after that we relocated to America,LA,to fix my 'problems'.
"Simamkele, please focus on me and not whatever you're looking at outside" my teacher says taking me out of my thoughts. I look at her as she carries on teaching. I can't even focus because of the cold wind entering from the broken window besides me
"If anyone puts any sort of object in one of your holes, that is rape. Your hole can be your mouth, anus hole and even your vagina hole. Whether you were drunk or sober,no means no!" she says. She's been saying this ever since I met her,5 years ago,I'm even starting to believe it and I hate it. I was not raped. My parents thought it was better to send me to an all girl's school after that incident, because boys bring babies
"Mrs Olivia,so, if you're drunk and someone sticks something into your vagina and you don't say no,it's rape?" Zenda asks.
"Yes,you never gave the person consent to do anything to you even if you never said no. If you're drunk, you're not controlling yourself so that person is taking advantage of you" she responds and Zenda nods. Can we stop talking about rape? I've never told anyone about what happened that day, mainly because I also don't remember much. My mom would literally kill me. The bell rings for home time,I guess now I can use the phrase 'saved by the bell'. Everyone packs up rushing to go home, that's how senior year is. Everyone is just tired, tired, tired. I really thought the last year of highschool would be fun but no,it's just as crap as the first year, just worse
"You walking or you're going to catch a taxi?" I ask Melody when we're out of the class
"I'm catching a taxi today,it's raining" she points at the sky and that's when I notice that it's raining and I didn't bring my umbrella. We walk out through the small school gate under her umbrella
"Mmh look at that guy, looks like a snack"Miranda says making us laugh at the guys from a neighboring school across the street. I spot my dad's car before anyone else can,no scratch that,my step dad. At school I'm the rich girl, just because this man always fetches me with different cars. It's only two, either his white Mercedes Benz or his grey Audi.
"Your dad's here, byee!" Zenda says hugging me,Miranda is next to hug me. I know they're definitely happy that I'm going home. I once walked in the school toilet and they were making fun of my hair, asking each other which race I'm from and discussing how boring I am. I dread going home most of the time, even though I'm fucken tired. I give them a weak smile after stretching my skirt trying to make it longer, but it's right over my knees. The car comes to a halt infront of us and I open the front door
"Sawubona baba(greetings dad)" I say trying to hide my distressed voice. He smiles
"Hello mt'anami(my child)" he replies and I instinctively turn up the volume to ease my worries. My favourite song plays and I hum along. Jealous by Labrinth. Generally because I always have crushes on people I know I'll never get. I ignore this man staring at my thighs. His phone rings and he decreases the volume. What was I expecting though?he always does this. We pick up my little brother and my older brother. He's the same age as I am but he was born 5 months before me. I'm sure you're wondering how. I have a step sister who is in varsity, she's 22, Palesa. Then there's the step brother who's the same age as me,18,Ntandoyenkosi. They are both not my mother's children but they are her husband's children. Then there's the golden egg,my little brother, who is 12,Bandile. Who is both this man's child and my mother's child. I'm the only child who isn't fathered by the lockness monster. They go to private schools but I just go to one of the local schools near home, that is why I get fetched first, because school is near home. Even though sometimes I walk,it's only a 25 minute walk to school from home. Trust me,you do not want to know how bad the school's in our neighborhood are.
