Simamkele's pov:
I can't tell Lukhanyo about his mom. Yes,he took my side regarding Chloe but Chloe is gone and I have to be strong on my own. I keep thinking about it. In the morning I received worn out roses with a note written 'I hope you now know how it feels to lose a child undeservingly' . I know for sure that it's Thami's mother. I open the door for Nombuso. She walks in with her belly shining forward. We're having a baby. I kiss her belly first and then kiss her cheek. She hugs me for dear life. I love this soul so much. The house was quiet now,my family had left and I was on paid leave. She took out glasses while I took out the juice and we followed each other to the living room. She changes the series I'm watching because she's not into love stories. Gosh, this girl. I look at her and she looks back at me. Tears start rolling down my cheeks. She moves closer to be able to hug me
"Oh baby,I know you miss Chloe" she says softly. I shake my head
"It's not that" I raise my head while she wipes my tears
"What is it then?" she asks with worry taking over her face
"I think I'm pregnant" she looks at me in shock
"How though?" she asks me
"I don't know" I look at her "I know my body and I've been pregnant before,I've been overlooking this because of Chloe's sickness and I just thought it's because I don't go to gym anymore" I pulled up my tee shirt, showing her the dark line across it "this happened when I was pregnant with Chloe" I stand up and show her my side "my belly is literally round" I sit back down again
"Should we buy some tests?" she asks rubbing my back in circles, which kind of made me feel at ease
"Yes,please, this has been stressing me out"
"Don't stress, you've only slept with one person this whole year" she says making me realize that if I am pregnant,I'm in big shit.
"Snothando is surely going to cut me off now" I say worried because she had been here for the funeral and we just acted like nothing happened. Nombuso knew all my drama with the Sangweni's. Nombuso is 25 and she's been working for that company since she was 22 so she has a car. We took her car and drove to the nearest mall. It was a Wednesday midday so it wasn't that full. We went to Clicks because I also needed some toiletries. We took face masks for the both of us. I took sanitary pads for some reason, yes I'm in denial. I popped in deodorants and body sprays. I look at her
"How many should I take?" I ask her
"3" she says taking them.
"1 is enough" I say putting two back. She puts the two back into the basket
"We need to be sure" she says to me before walking away. We started picking baby essentials for her but she's only 5 months pregnant. She's really excited for her first child. We paid and went to Spur. I haven't had food from Spur since I was a kid. I ordered ribs and onion rings and she ordered the same. Then we ordered mocktails.
"So what's the plan?" I look at her confused "if you're actually pregnant"
"I don't think I'll even look in the way of abortion pamphlets. I can't kill a whole human being just because some guy was reckless" she nods
"Will you tell him?" she asks again
"No" she looks at me shocked "he should've pulled out, then we wouldn't be here"
"Simamkele" she warns
"What? I raised Chloe alone,I don't need him"
"That was different" she says. She's the only person after mom that I've told about Thami's death. It happened when I was breaking down after Chloe's death "the same way you won't abort this baby is the same way you won't prevent Ndabe from having a bond with the baby. You can't make that decision Simamkele, he's the father and you will tell him. What he decides to do after that is on him"
