Simamkele's pov:

After 3 days of being in the air,we finally land. We are currently on our way to their parents house. I'm kind of nervous, how everyone will welcome me. I don't know anything about being a good wife.

"Come on,don't stress about it. Mom knows you and she's a good person, same goes for my sister" he tries to reassure me. Just because they are good to him, it don't mean they'll be good to me. The car stops and Thami jogs out to open my door. What a gentleman. His father and brother's are in the other car. I'm wearing a black strap dress since it was hot and my Adidas flops. My short, light brown, curly hair looking weirdly cute. My face still has bruises that Thami touched every time I went to sleep. I'm a light sleeper. We walked inside the big house that was the same as every house in this complex. Thami and his brothers were wheeling in our suitcases while I walked besides Mr Mthembu.

"Nkosikazi (wife)" I knew what that meant as Mr Mthembu, dad, said it to his wife. Their mother was beautiful. She hugged me

"It's been so long sisi" she says almost breaking my bones,I loved it though. It reminded me of my mother . I nod not knowing what to say

"Hey,I'm Sindiswa, his sister" she says hugging me and damn she smells good

"I'm Sima-" she cuts me off

"Simamkele, our new bride" and we laugh

"You are forward Sindi, let Sima rest now, she's had a long day" Thami suggests

"Oh my gosh, you're literally so pretty. Let's take a picture" she says pulling me away from Thami and I let out a little smile as she pulls me outside, into their garden. This is beautiful. A black and white German Shepherd runs over to us,wagging its tail,he is beautiful

"Stevens, sit" she says and the dog jumps on me making me fall back. It licks my face and I laugh "Stevens, bad boy" he stops licking me and I stand up to dust myself.

"He's cute" I say

"Finally!" she shouts "you spoke. I've been wanting to hear your voice" I giggle. She's so bubbly that she makes me comfortable around her. Chubby people are really the bubbliest people on Earth.

"I speak when needs be" I say and she takes pictures of me while I'm talking. I pout and make funny faces. She tells me about her life, how they grew up and which of her brothers she's close with. She said something about her brother who is currently in hospital, the hot one,his name is Lukhanyo. What a beautiful name. When it starts getting dark outside, mom calls us in to have dinner.  She says grace and we all start eating

"So Simamkele, tell us a little about yourself" Kwanda says, the eldest brother. We were with him on the plane and he was quiet compared to the other brother

"I am Simamkele Mila Browns,I'm 17 years old,18 on the 27th of December. I'm in love with nature, farming and animals. I'm very kind and a good listener. I love traveling and discovering new things. I'm Xhosa and I lived in Ladysmith before relocating to LA. Both my parents are deceased. I enjoy reading books...watching movies and singing" I pause for a second "I think that's all"

"You're young" the forward brother says,Mnisi

"And this old hag is 26" he says again pointing at Thami with his head. The whole table erupts in laughter. It wasn't even that funny. The dinner was nice and it felt welcoming

"What happened to your eye?" Sindi asks

"Sindi clean up the table" her mother saves me from answering that question "let's have a word on the patio" she talks to me. We both stand up from the table and I follow her out. We get to the patio and the view is breathtaking. We sit down on the comfy chairs

"Simamkele I know you're asking yourself a lot of questions right now. How could your mother do this to you? Why would she marry you off?and at such a young age" she starts off. I sigh. Why are we even having this conversation right now? "Your mom didn't sell you off to us. She was trying to save you from your stepfather. Your mother and I were friends since we met through our husbands. You were 5 years old then, and she had told me that your stepfather wasn't your biological dad. I never really knew who your dad was but from what I picked up,talking about him hurt her. When the abuse started, your stepfather made you guys leave Durban and live in LadySmith" we once lived in Durban?and this whole time I thought I've never been here "as much as I tried to help your mother out, your stepfather is very well known in politics so he had the upper hand when it came to police and judges. When you guys moved to LA. Your mother made me promise that I'll let Thami marry you to save you from the hands of that monster. He had started abusing you before you guys even moved,am I right?" I nod with tears threatening to come out "She somehow knew it will get worse when he moved her from her friends and family. I promised her that when you finish school, you'll marry Thami. Unfortunately I couldn't let you finish school because she is now no more" she sniffs. I can't even comfort her because I'm stuck in my own train of thoughts. I thought my mother hated me but she was actually trying to save me,and she did. "I'm sorry if you feel like we made decisions for you or we ruined your life but it was her wish for you to get out of that house"

"Thank you,you really helped me" she gets up to hug me. I let the tears fall because if I don't,I'll burst. She stops crying first and she sits next to me,drawing meaningless circles on my back. When I finally stop crying I can feel my eyes burn

"I'll give you an ointment for your eye" she says and I nod. We go back inside and it looks like most people have gone to their respective rooms. My mother in law leads me to Thami's room. It feels so weird saying that, mother in law. She gives me a reassuring smile before leaving. I knock once and enter. When I walk in further I can hear the shower running,I sit on the bed and stare into nothing. Being a wife means you have to bear kids, right? I don't want kids though. I don't even want to get married

"Mkami(my wife)" he says standing infront of me with only a towel wrapped around his waist. Thami is so attractive, damn, even with his bald head

"Is that supposed to make me blush?" I ask giggling. It was kind of cute

"Yes,why aren't you blushing?" he asks chuckling

"Awume kancane baba weh khaya (slow down, head of the house)" I say and he gets on his knees, his facial expression makes me want to laugh so bad. He wipes a fake tear

"Awuphinde futhi mama(say it again)" he begs holding my small hands into his big hands.

"No Thami" I giggle again. He gets up smiling and his towel falls. As I said before,Thami is a big man and his body looks good even though he has a belly. I hide my face in my hands

"This is all yours sthandwa sami (my love)" I hear him say and laugh. Okay, take note, that thing is big and it's just dangling around like that? Isn't it heavy? Why doesn't it fall off? Kanti what is the purpose of gravity?

"Thami please get dressed" I say almost crying. What if he's also going to rape me? Is this my life now? The constant fear that something might happen?

"I'm dressed now, don't cry, please" I feel his long arms stretch around my back to my shoulder. I start crying my eyeballs out,but the funny thing is,throughout,I've been holding onto him tightly.

"I'm not that type of man. Trust me" he says and I sniff. I want to but I just can't trust anyone at this point.
