"You ready?" Aubrey asks, genuin concern and question in her eyes.

I nod my head, biting my bottom lip and my body shaking.

After being a long weekend away, it's time for what I never wished to come. To marry Elias. I never bothered to organise anything for my weather so to my absence from the palace, so everything was picked out by Mrs Ophelia.

Luckily she knows what I love and I do love everything, I just feel it's being highly waisted. As much as I had wished to annoy and emotionally kill Elias, I chose to ignore him.

Violence in any form isn't how I chose to live by, and I never will. He seemed surprised by my choice, but chose to accept it and ignore me too.

Although tension was highly obvious between us when we were together around the cabin, we successfully managed.

I stand, looking at myself in the mirror. My dress tight against my body, a long vail falling from my long curled hair.

Light makeup is painted on my face and a fake smile plastered on my face. I turn to look at Aubrey, a smile on her face.

"Mother would be so proud" she say's emotionally. Tears beginning to fall down her face.

I nod my head, "yeah. Yeah, she would be. Only I'm not" a tear try's to escape from my eye, but I quickly wipe at it, so it won't ruin my makeup.

Damn makeup.

"Yeah. I know" she says with her voice low.

Both our attentions go to the door that is now open, Mrs Ophelia looking at the both of us, a smile plastered on her face.

"They're ready for you, miss Merliah"

I breathe in then out, nodding my head. I grab my bouquet and walk with Aubrey and Mrs Ophelia to the main hall that I am soon to be married in.

Soon to marry Elias.

We stop at the closed doors, my father waiting there for me, not making eyes contact, just standing straight and formal. Awaiting for me.

Awaiting for this to be over.

"You'll always be a Laurier to me, Mer" Aubrey says, finishing our conversation and walking in with Mrs Ophelia, leaving i and father alone with guards around us.

Protecting us.

I look at the door only, copying my fathers actions.

"You are to say your own vows. I would have told you earlier to prepare but the both of you ran off and ignored my calls"

I ignore his statement, but a part of me is now terrified that I have to speak vows that aren't true and I am not prepared for.

"I am proud of you. That you've grown up and now you're getting married" I look at him, so does he, a smile on his face.

"I just wish you thought it out better"

I nod my head in agreement, looking back at the door.

"I'm an adult now, father. I can do anything"

"Exactly, Merliah. You could do anything. Even run away and say you're not marrying him. As an adult you have legal rights"

"Father-

"You and Elias. Both of you show such hatred to one another. But neither of you wanted out. You need each other-

The doors open, my arm linking with my fathers and a fake smile growing brightly on my face.
