don't speak
or say a word
just leave it
unheard
for they'll scream
or they'll hurt you
abuse
or pervert you
all to get mad
at you for being sad
then decide it's okay
to guilt trip you for that.
they broke you
they hurt you
they wore you down
they kicked you
and stole
your power
your crown
drag you down
or punish you
all with just words
leaving you thinking
you deserve all that hurt.
that you're nothing
you're dumb.
that you amount
to none
all because they
don't know how to love
see that they aren't
as tough as they seem
see that they cower
by learning to be mean.
brush off the words
that are engraved in your soul
learn that you're more
than all you've been told.
put a smile on your face
and walk past the ones
who hurt you
and told you
you are loved by no one
walk past them now
with your head held up high
look past the hate
and kiss them goodbye
take back your crown
that they stole
that they won
put it back on
right where it belongs
you cannot fix them
or make them stop with the lies
you can't make them tell you
the reason as to why
but as you walk up to them
emanating pride
remember that the best
you can do
is try.
