All Too Well

Hard times

The next day Meredith woke up in Nicks arms. She didn't feel good but what was she supposed to do, a lot work was waiting for her.
She felt Nick waking up now too. 'Morning' she sighed. 'hi, how are you?' he asked. 'Honestly, awful' she look up at him. 'Meredith what happened yesterday?' he tried. She flinched, ' I,I can't tell you...it...I can't, not yet. I'm sorry.' she said her voice trembling. 'hey, hey it's okay', he tightened his arms around her. Why wouldn't she tell him? ' You know I'll always love you, whatever happens right?' he said. The only thing Mer could do was cry. She didn't want to feel this way, she didn't want to be a burden to Nick, she was a burden wasn't she? That's what she believed anyways.

*Knock knock*
'Mom, are you awake?' Zola asked. ' I'll go' Nick said. He got out of the bed and walked to the door to talk to Zola.
' You're mom's awake Zola, is there anything I can help you with?' ' Well could you help me with my essay, I don't know how to end it?' she asked. 'Sure kid, let's go.'
Meredith overheard Zola and Nick and couldn't help but smile through her tears. She stayed in bed for a few more minutes before she went downstairs to make the kids breakfast.
They brought Christopher and Zola to school and then went to the hospital.

Merediths last parient was a woman with abdominal pain. They did a few tests and she turned out to be pregnant, but also having a tumor above her uterus. The baby was pressing against tumor, what caused the pain.
The tumor was easy to remove and she had a baby. Iris (the patient) is gonna be so happy Mer thought. But the opposite was true.
' A baby, I'm having a baby!' she yelled, ' I don't want it!' ' Can't you remove it?' she asked.
Meredith was stunned. 'W...well we'll need you to get checked out at OB to see how far along you are, but I don't think we're able to remove it' she said. ' Then I'll give it up for adoption... A baby! Never!' the woman almost looked mad.
Meredith couldn't take it, she wanted to yell at Iris so bad. She was dying to have a baby, she just lost one, and Iris wanted to abort or give it away? What the heck was wrong with her?
She took a deep breath and excused herself.

Mer walked to the stairwell and sat down on the ground. She needed to calm herself down before she would be able to she her patient again.
Bailey had seen Meredith go to the stairwell and wondered why she looked tense.
'Grey you okay?' she asked going after Meredith. 'Yeah, yeah I'm fine'
'Liar, you look like you just got punched in the face.' Miranda said.
' That's kinda true, not literally, but,' she sighed, ' my patient is pregnant and wants to abort or give it up for adoption, she doesn't want it!' Bailey looked at her confused. 'I, I, never mind. I just don't get it.' Meredith said, getting up and then walked away, leaving Bailey standing in confusion.

They got Iris up to OB, she indeed was to far along, so she would have to keep it. Meanwhile Meredith got ready for Iris' surgery.
The surgery went fast and well, but Mer was exhausted afterwards. She felt so sorry for the unborn baby who had such an awful mother. How could Iris not love her child?

Some time later Nick ran into Meredith, she didn't look happy at all. 'Hey, how are you doing?' he asked. She just walked toward him and burried her face in his chest. Nick embraced her and gave a kiss in her hair.
A few minutes later Mer looked up at him and he kissed her lips. ' Is your shift over yet?' Nick asked her, she nodded. 'Lets go home then. ' It was weekend, Chistoffer and Zola wanted to stay over at Alex and Jo's, so Meredith and Nick had the house for themselves.
At home they ordered food and snuggled up on the couch. They watched a movie and went to bed early. It'd been a hard day.
