Disappear, Part Two

Journal Entry: Revenge

Days passed. Robert got discharged from the hospital.

The day of the event was today. I got myself ready. I put on a black waist coat, long trousers and  laced up boots. I also got my revolver. Catherine stayed home with Anna. I rode to the party.

The party was happening at a jazz club at 8pm. I walked in the club. Robert was already present. Wearing a collar dress vest and long trousers, like always. I went to look for Henry. I found him eventually. He was just having a drink.

"Are you drunk?" I said.

"No. So, listen up. Esme will be making her entrance very soon on the stage, you know what to do." John stated.

After he finished Esme walked on the stage. She looked exquisite in her black flowy gown. John went on the stage and introduced her to everyone. Then Esme and John walked off the stage. John came back to me.

We talked by the bar.

"Have you ever thought you would be my partner in crime?" I said.

"Nope. I never thought that I would be fighting side by side with a former king of England." John responded.

"It's crazy how far we've come, isn't it?" John said.

"Yeah" I replied.

We both had fun. We talked, laughed and fooled around.

While speaking with John I saw that Robert was going after Esme.

"I have to go," I told John.

Esme was going to the restroom. Robert was behind her. He was holding a gun. He pointed the gun at her. Then I just ran and tackled him.

"Go, get out of here!" I yelled to Esme.

I was holding Robert down. He broke out and a fight broke out between us. We fought for some time. Eventually Robert was on the ground beaten up and bleeding. I cocked my revolver and shot him. Alison saw that and she just started attacking me. I pushed her away.

"Your Dad wanted to kill John's whole family, me and my daughter. However, I see that you're not like him. You don't deserve to die right now." I put the revolver away and walked away.

I went back to John and Esme. I talked with them for some time. Then Alison came out.

"John! John! Do you realise what Henry did? He ruined my life. He murdered my Dad. Just shot him in cold blood. Do you really want to keep him in your company if he is just a man with no soul?" Alison questioned.

John didn't say a word.

"Well I guess you do because you still haven't fired him. If he is going to stay I won't. Goodbye, John." Alison said.

Then she walked out.

I later told Esme and John that I needed to go home.

I rode home in the carriage. I walked in my house.

"Sir, your daughter is asleep." Anna said.

"Thank you Anna, you may rest now." I added.

Anna left the room.

I went to the balcony. I sat down on the floor. I thought about everything and prayed.

"God what have I done, I became a monster. First it was James. Then Robert, who next? I saw my child get traumatised because of me. I feel that I lost myself and I am so close to losing everything."

I stood up, and went over the fence of the balcony, I looked down and I just wanted to jump.

"Daddy what are you doing?" Catherine said.

She gave me a reason not to jump. I went back over the fence. I picked up Catherine.

"Come on, let's get you back in bed." I said.
