I had a very good morning. I didn't get a dream though. I cleaned myself up. I read some books too. While I was reading, Graham came into the room. He was still wearing his night clothes.
"So what do you think of Liz?" Graham asked.
"She's kind, even though she has been through the worst imaginable." I responded.
"Brother, don't you bring up her past when you talk to her? You know she lived a hard life? Only bring it up if she begins speaking about it. Okay?" Graham said.
"Yes I know." I responded.
There was a pause of silence.
"I suggest you change your clothes. I wouldn't want you to look like a fool during breakfast." I commented.
"I will. I have to go. Don't be late for breakfast." Graham added.
Then He left the room.
I read a book for some time. However I couldn't finish it because I had to go get ready for breakfast. I put on a brown buttoned jacket and stout trousers.
Later I went downstairs for breakfast.
Everyone showed up. We ate and talked.
"So Catherine, how was your first night here, did you sleep well?" Dad asked.
"Yes I did sleep well." Catherine responded.
"So are there any plans for this week? I asked.
"No, not really." Dad answered.
"Catherine, I am so sorry for last night. I wasn't aware of it." Aunt Esme said.
"Apology accepted". Catherine replied.
Later I took a walk around The Mansion. I found Catherine. She was sitting by a window and watching the sky.
"Do you watch the sky often?" I asked.
"Yes, it's a pleasant thing to do. It calms me down. It allows me to get lost in my thoughts." Catherine said.
We just watched the sky together. In one moment I just thought about her and thought how rough of a childhood she had.
"Elizabeth, if you need to talk. I am here for you." I said.
"Okay, thanks." She responded.
I stayed with her for some time.
"You want to sneak out tonight." I asked.
"But wouldn't your Dad get mad?" Catherine questioned.
"We will be back before he notices." I commented.
"Sure, I would have been bored anyway." Catherine said.
"Meet me tonight at midnight in my room." I said.
I went to my room to read some books. I stayed in it until midnight. Catherine walked in the room.
"So we are going or what?" Catherine asked.
"Yes, but remember we have to be careful. People are still walking around The Mansion but it's not that many. Let's go." I said.
I walked out with Catherine.
Catherine and I snuck out of The Mansion unnoticed.
"So how does it feel?" I asked.
"What do you mean?" Catherine asked.
"To sneak out." I said.
"This is actually my first time sneaking out. I never did it. But it does feel.... liberating." Catherine commented.
We walked together to the city.
I felt happy and free with her. I feel like I could be myself. I could fool around and not get criticised for it.
We got to Glasgow and we just walked through the city and just talked.
"Do you follow any religion?" Catherine asked me.
"No I don't, do you?" I asked.
"I am a Christian." She responded.
"What made you follow it?" I asked.
"God saved me. I could never repay him for that. I am a sinner, but Jesus cleansed me of my sins by dying on the cross for our sins. I am constantly saying "our" because he didn't die just for me. He died for everyone, just so we could be saved and free from sin. Isn't that beautiful?" Catherine said.
"In a way that is." I commented.
We continued walking. I hear that someone is playing an instrument very loudly from their home. The melody sounds beautiful.
"Catherine, would you like to dance with me while this beautiful music plays?" I asked Catherine.
"I would love to." Catherine answered.
So we dance.
We keep on walking.
"Want to keep on going by roof?" I asked.
"That's insane." Catherine commented.
"Maybe it is, but let's do it." I said.
"Okay." Catherine said.
We stopped and we just sat on the rooftop. Just watching the sky.
"The night looks beautiful." I commented.
"Yes it does." Catherine responded.
"Irvin, could I just talk about how I feel? I just feel that I have to say this." Catherine said.
"I'm all ears." I commented.
"I didn't have a good childhood. My Dad is dead and my mother is just nowhere to be found. That made me feel like I had no one. I just felt alone. I just couldn't trust anyone. But then you came into my life. I feel like I can be myself around you. You make me feel joyful. I hadn't felt that in a long time. Thank you for that." Catherine said.
"You're welcome." I commented.
We watched the stars. In one moment we just make eye contact. I kiss Catherine. But Catherine moves herself away.
"Oh I am so sorry. I shouldn't have done that." I added.
"It's alright. Anyways it's late, we should head back." Catherine said.
"You're right, let's go." I stated.
After a long walk we were back in front of The Mansion. Some people were still asleep and some still awake. We snuck by them. Both of us went back to our rooms.
