Chapter 9: Fearless Thunder

With one mission finished, another one begins. After the events in the Asakusa district, Tanjiro and Nezuko were on their way to their next destination, while being annoyed by their crow shouting the direction. 

"SOUTH-EAST! YOUR NEXT ASSIGNMENT IS TO THE SOUTH-EAST!"

"We got it! we got it! But can you please quiet down a little bit please?" Tanjiro asked

"ALSO, YOU WILL BE JOINING UP WITH A TSUGUKO FOR THIS MISSION!"

As the sibling try to block the crow's constant shouting, they come across a girl who looked very scared.

"Hey, are you alright?" Tanjiro asked.

The girl looked up showing tears in her eyes. "It's my husband. A few hours ago, he was taken into a Tsuzumi Mansion. He told me to run away, so I did. But I was feeling scared on what was happening to him. I wanted to go back and try and rescue him, but a boy stopped me. He said that life should not be stolen while it's young. He told me to return home, while he would find him."

"Which way did he go?"

"He went southeast. Towards the mansion."

Tanjiro took a whiff and found a trail of that boy's scent, and started to run after him, leaving Nezuko and the girl behind. "Tanjiro, wait!!" Nezuko shouted, but he couldn't hear him. She than looked to the girl. "Do you know what the boy looks like?" 

"Around your age had the same clothes you two have on, a yellow haroi, and blonde hair. He also had a sparrow with him." Nezuko remembered back at Final Selection, that there was a boy with those same features who survived. "Thank you." She said as she ran after her brother.

Far out across the fields, a demon slayer matching the description was talking with a sparrow, meaning he was somehow able to communicate with the small bird. "Look Chuntaro, there were many ways I could've stopped her, but that was the most logical path." 'Chirp, chirp, chirp?' "We can't always stop and help people who need help. If it involves demons, then I will help." 'Chirp, chirp, chirp, chirp!' "Those were my master's words not mine." He suddenly stopped after hearing something. "I'm starting to hear footsteps getting closer." He then turns around to see Tanjiro running towards him and gets tackled to the ground. "What's with you?!"

"Why would you tell that girl back there to leave her husband behind?!" Tanjiro yelled. "Do you understand how much she loves him?!"

"I do!!!" he replied. "I told her that so that so she wouldn't be in danger of what took him!! I can handle the danger! She can't" Hearing his words caught Tanjiro off guard, letting the blond demon slayer escape his hold and puts him in an armlock. "Both of you stop fighting!" Nezuko shouted as she caught up with Tanjiro. The slayer turned around showing his face, making Nezuko to blush slightly. "Do you know this guy?" he asked. "Yes!" She answered. "He's my older brother!" 

With that being said, the demon slayer released Tanjiro from his hold allowing him to get back up. "I'm sorry about that." he said. "No, I'm the one who should apologize." Tanjiro replied.  After apologizing, he reaches into his pocket grabbing an onigiri offering it to the demon slayer to show his gratitude. "Thanks." the blond boy said as he begins to eat the food. "So, who are you two?"

"My name's Tanjiro Kamado. This is my sister Nezuko." Tanjiro introduced. Nezuko shyly waved hello.

"I'm Zenitsu Agatsuma a Tsuguko." he replied.

After realizing that Zenitsu was the tsuguko they were assigned with, the siblings and their new friend and comrade began walking to their mission. "So Zenitsu, why did you become a Demon Slayer?" Tanjiro asked.
