Slow down on Monday
Not a sound on Wednesday
Might get loud on Friday
But on Saturday, Saturday, Saturday
We paint the townThere was some obvious tension in the air. The way Sal abruptly scooted away from you like you had a disease when the other two walked in made you question his intentions. Until then, you had found everything perfectly normal and innocent. You let him get close and you let him touch you, happy that neither of you was acting awkwardly anymore. You'd figured physical touch was his way of showing affection, so you allowed him to.
But Ash and Larry seemed to have thought that something else was going on, and that was written all over the looks they gave the two of you. With wide eyes and a racing heart, you shook your head furiously at them, trying to make your point across. You didn't want them to even start teasing you and Sal for something that was never going to happen.
Thankfully - and possibly wanting to redeem herself -, Ash set the six-pack she'd been carrying on the kitchen counter, turning to you and Sal with a sweet smile. "So, you've been drinking already, huh? I hope there's room for more 'cause we have plenty of booze!"
You smiled back at her, a relieved one. Mouthing an "I got you", she winked in your direction and asked Larry to help her unpack.
Sadly, your little magic moment with Sal had ended and it was obvious with the way he went back to avoiding looking at you at all costs. You sighed, getting up to follow your friends into the kitchen.
They were whispering something and both immediately shut up as soon as they saw you, throwing nervous smiles your way. That did nothing to help with your own nerves, but it was better with them than with Sal, at least.
"I was just telling Ash about this friend of mine," Larry started speaking, taking bottle after bottle of beer from their compartment and finding a spot for them in the fridge. "His folks are out of town and he's throwing a party today, if y'all feel like it we could go."
You shrugged, tapping your long nails on the counter. "How wild is it gonna be?"
"Enough." He assured, laughing. "We haven't seen each other in a while but he used to throw some real crazy parties, dude. Like, people would jump from his roof to the neighbor's pool and stuff."
"That does sound wild enough." You chuckled, reaching for his hand and grabbing the beer that he was about to put in the fridge. You let Larry open it for you, not feeling the need to show off anymore. "What do you say, Ash? Are we going?"
"If you're in, I'm in."
"What about Sal?" Larry asked and you could've sworn there was a hint of suggestiveness in his voice. "Do you think he'll be down?"
You ignored it. "Yeah, I think so. If we're all going, I don't see why he wouldn't want to."
Ash turned to you, an excited smile on her face that you already knew all too well. She definitely had something in her mind. "You should come sleep at my place today so we can get ready together for the party. I can already see it, it's gonna be so fun! We can do each other's makeups and- oh my God, I actually have a dress that would look so hot on you."
Even if you had anything better to do - which you didn't -, how could you ever be able to say no to her when she looked like she could burst from excitement? Also, she had literally just saved you from the embarrassment of being questioned for getting caught in the middle of something with Sal. So you offered her the same happy smile she'd been giving you for the past few seconds, "It's a date."
