But she can't be what you need if she's seventeen
They're just girls

Sal couldn't sleep. Partly because he couldn't stop thinking about a certain girl, but also because Larry had insisted to stay over and he just wouldn't shut up. Really, it was impressive just how many different subjects he could come up with just so he could talk forever.

Sal was lying in bed, his head resting on his arms as he looked at the ceiling, deep in thought. He didn't understand what it was about you that had him so hooked, but seeing you for the first time when you walked down the stairs at your house had ignited something in him. It was almost like you were walking in slow motion, at least that's how it felt for him. He was so entranced he couldn't even greet you when everyone else did, and that was embarrassing. Sal had never been in love before and he knew for sure that that wasn't the case now, but the attraction was very real and he was very aware of that.

"So?" Larry's inquiring voice broke him out of his thoughts and Sal looked at him, tilting his head up as if asking him to repeat. "What do you think? Should I shoot my shot with Y/N?"

Oh fuck.

He had no idea how to react. Sure, he had no intention on making a move on you, but he wasn't expecting Larry to. That would just be weird and he felt a little jealous, but he just nodded. "Yeah, go for it."

There was silence between the two boys for a few seconds before Larry bursted our laughing.

"I'm just fucking with you bro, I know you totally have the hots for her. God, you should have seen your face."

"You can't see my face." Sal rolled his eyes.

"You were totally murdering me with your eyes under that prosthetic. You love her."

Sal scoffed, "Love her." He repeated, looking at his friend like he had just said the most stupid thing ever. "Yeah, sure." He rolled his eyes again, but there was no point in denying the attraction. Larry knew him better than anyone else, and Sal knew that he wasn't about to let the subject go. "I just think she's pretty."

"Aw come on Sal, don't act like I can't read you like a book."

"You've never read a book in your life."

"Yeah, 'cause they're not about you! But seriously now, what's up with the two of you?"

Sal frowned, not quite understanding what he meant. "Nothing."

"Nah, you don't get to bullshit me. It's good that you have your prosthetic or else the girl would see you drooling over her 24/7, dude. And I'm pretty sure I've seen her give you the same look once or twice."

He felt the familiar burn on his cheeks and looked down at his own hands, avoiding Larry's know-it-all gaze at all costs.

"Stop, she's not into me. She can't be."

"And why not?"

"Because she hasn't seen me, Larry."

There was a lot of bitterness behind his words and Larry heard it. "I don't think that would change anything."

"You should know better." Sal rolled his eyes "How many girls have you seen me date since we met?"
