You couldn't remember exactly at what time you fell asleep, but waking up the next morning was anything but pleasant. You
were sure you'd had at least 8 hours of sleep, but it definitely didn't feel like it. The last time you'd felt so tired, you had snorted enough cocaine to keep an entire football team awake.

Needless to say, you didn't look your best-- the bags under your eyes this time, though, were due to the excessive stress. There was no amount of concealer that could hide them, at least not with your minimal makeup skill.

What worried you the most, even more than facing Sal in a few hours, was the fact that you didn't know where your friendship with Ash stood. You hadn't heard from her since the party, meaning you had no idea if she was coming to pick you up for school. Texting her was not an option, if she had decided she didn't want to be your friend anymore, you were going to respect it—something you'd just recently learned after hearing about Sarah and how she just wanted to be left alone.

But that meant not knowing if you should wait for her and risk missing the school bus, or rush to take the bus and risk having her wait for you just to get disappointed by the fact that you'd left.

So you texted Larry and asked if he knew the answer to your worries, but he said he knew just as much as you did. And that's how you found yourself gulping down a cup of coffee with nothing to eat and running out to the bus stop.

You arrived fairly early. Taking the bus was no news for you seeing as you used to take it everyday before Ash started giving you a ride, but it felt odd now-- like that wasn't part of your routine anymore and something was out of place.

You decided to wait outside. There wasn't much to do inside the building out of school hours and you sure as hell were not looking forward to seeing your peers any more than your classes required, so you sat on one of the benches near the parking lot. It was a cold day, sunny, but still cold regardless, so you wore an oversized hoodie with sleeves a little too big for your arms. Comfy nonetheless.

A science textbook sat on your lap. Not your first option—honestly you wouldn't even consider it an option at all had you brought anything else to read—, but enough to keep your mind distracted. Also a bonus that you could learn a little more and be actually helpful the next time you would have to work with Todd. God knows you were willing to go out of your way to keep at least one friend.
