Bad news

Tuesday June 14th

****Sonny's POV****

9:00am at the precinct

After interviewing Simon yesterday and hearing what him and Emily had been through, it was heartbreaking.
I was sitting with Nick and I was going through the paperwork and files of Simon's and reviewing Simon's statement.
Nick was going through Emily's statement and her files.
Emily and Simon would be discharged today from the hospital and we was waiting to find out what the next steps were. Daryl would go before a judge today, he's been in holding since Sunday claiming his innocence.
His wife Pam claims that she had no idea about the abuse. Simon and Emily's stories matched up it's all been Daryl and both are traumatized

"What do you think will happen to the kids?"
I asked Nick

"I hope we have enough to keep Daryl on remand, clearly these kids have been through hell and I call bullshit Pam didn't know anything...I mean Emily's journals, she cut herself on her hips to deal with pain. A kid at school told her it helped them."
Nick said

"Gese..can't say I don't agree with you."
I said as I tossed a paper down on the desk in-front of me

I put his finger to my lips

"Carisi."
Nick said

"Yeah?"
I said being brought back to reality

"This case has been heavy on you hasn't it?"
Nick said

I let out a deep breath
I looked Nick in the eyes

"Yeah. I remember the foster care days, they was bad until I finally got my forever home. I didn't cut myself but I starved myself a lot thinking everything was my fault. I feel for Emily and Simon. Cases are never easy especially when kids are involved. You know Amanda and I been trying to have a baby and can't get pregnant. Two kids here the biological parents couldn't take care of them because of addiction, end up in foster care and can't even have a safe home."
I said

"I know. Talking to Emily yesterday telling her about Zara, you know I held her tighter last night. She's two years younger than Emily. It was hard."
Nick said

"Amaro, Carisi."
I looked over to see Olivia motioning for us

We followed her into her office and was greeted by Amanda, Barba. Barba shut the door behind us

"I assume this is about Daryl's hearing?"
I asked

"Yeah."
Olivia frowned

"What?!"
Nick said

"The judge set a $50,000 bond for Daryl. He's being charged with neglect of 2 dependents resulting in serious bodily injury, assault /battery against minors, and attempted rape against Emily. Unfortunately since the foster system is overflowing with kids, the group homes are full, and neither one of them belong in juvie, which even if I had too put them there Emily is too young and ideally they need to be together."
Barba said

"Barba what are you trying to say."
I said nervous

"Pam claimed she had no idea about the abuse, and has made a promise to keep Daryl out of the home so the kids could stay there. Unfortunately that's our only option. Daryl is already in the process posting bail."
Barba frowned

"You got to be kidding me."
I spoke before I thought it through

"Sonny".
Amanda grabbed my arm

"No this is bullshit, I told Simon (my nose began to burn and I began to choke on my tears) we would do everything we could to keep them out of that house."
