I wake up the next morning to the sound of birds chirping outside of my window and blink against the bright light shining in from the crack in my curtains. I nuzzle closer to the pillow I'm holding only to realize the pillow has a heartbeat and I freeze, my eyes springing open completely.

Eddie lays sprawled out beneath me on my bed. His shirt hitched up and my palm underneath it, resting flat against his smooth chest. My thigh is thrown over his waist and he has one hand resting on top of it, his fingers fanned out against my skin. His other arm is wrapped around me, holding me pressed against his side. My head is in the crook of his armpit and I'm nuzzled snuggly against him. I look up at his face and it's peaceful. His eyes closed and covered by long thick lashes. His curly hair fanning around his head in every direction on the pillow. His pink lips slightly open, his breathing even.

A part of me doesn't want to move, comfortable to stay in this little bubble with him. But I don't know what to do when he wakes up and besides my bladder is full. I gently ease his hand off my leg and place it on his stomach and then I ease off of him. He groans slightly and turns toward me, grabbing for me in his sleep and I snatch a pillow from behind me and offer it to him instead.

Eddie clutches it to his chest and snuggles closer, falling back asleep and I cover him back up with the blanket. I tiptoe over our long forgotten homework and make a beeline for the bathroom. Eddie and I had stayed up late helping each other with the Triginometey homework and when we finished I had asked if he wanted to watch a movie with me. I wasn't sure what made me ask him to stay a little longer, but Eddie agreed and I grabbed us some popcorn and we chatted quietly while we watched The Exorcist.

I don't remember falling asleep but I also don't remember finishing the movie so it must have been at some point during the film. I wash my face and brush my teeth before heading out of the bathroom. I go back to my room quietly and Eddie is just getting up. He's standing at the foot of my bed, stretching with both arms above his head. He turns to me with a yawn.

"Good morning," he says as though he wakes up here every day and I smile.

"Good morning," I say as he puts his hands on his hips and looks down at me.

"Leave it to you to fall asleep in the middle of The Exorcist," he chuckles and I blush slightly.

"You fell asleep too," I say, defensively and he grins.

"Only because you had me in a chokehold." He points to the neckline of his shirt and it does look stretched out, as if someone was pulling on it. "You grabbed my shirt and wouldn't let go. I was worried if I tried to leave I'd wake you and let's face it, the last few times I've done that haven't ended well for me."

"I'm sorry," I groan, running my hand through my hair nervously. "I didn't mean to trap you here."

Eddie reaches out and rubs his hands up and down my arms, reassuringly.

"Don't worry about it," he says, softly. "I slept really well. Best night of sleep I've had in a long time so it was worth it."

"You're just saying that," I roll my eyes at him and he shakes his head.

"No way! I'm gonna have to ask Claudia what kind of mattress this is."

I snort and he looks at me, mischief in his eyes. "Did you seriously just call my mom Claudia?" I ask and he bursts into laughter, making me giggle as well.

"It felt so wrong," he laughs and I throw my hands up.

"Then why did you do it?" I gasp and he shakes his head, holding his sides. I lean slightly forward as I regain myself and he does the same. I realize as I try to control my laughter that we are propped up against one another, chest to chest. Eddie reaches down and pushes some of the hair out of my face and I sober slightly, our eyes holding.
