I mean, isn't that how it's traditionally done? Your Highness, that is what he said to me word for word. And he requested me to repeat exactly." The trembling messenger said before the Queen. Her blood rose and she suppressed the urge to just go over and strangle Sunghoon.
Much later, it was the middle of the night. She still thought about Sunghoon's absurd request. Aeri felt suffocated and immediately took the ring off her finger and threw it into the drawer, tears forming in her eyes. The Queen may have always portrayed a serious, cold figure in front of people, however that never changed the fact that she was an orphaned young teenager ruling a kingdom on her very own. Her father often said this trait came from her mother; but she always felt it was from him.
Looking into the mirror with blurry, tear-filled eyes, she wondered why she was even crying. Marriage never brought her this much sadness to her before, so what was it? Or was it not sadness at all but rather disappointment and deprivation, wanting to marry him and be with him her whole life but not wanting to let her ego be hurt?
The girl immediately grabbed a piece of paper and a pen and let her hand and thoughts loose. She had always let go of worries in the form of poetry. After ten minutes, it was done. It read:
What's this awful losing game called love?
A game where push comes to shove,
And the pure white doves are
Stained red.
How can love be true and always have a happy ending?
I might go mad for it has me sending,
I refuse to believe love is unbending.
Why do people let love ruin them?
The thought of it I condemn.
Nothing about it resembles a rare gem.
So why do people fall for the stupid love story of homme and femme?
She read through her piece, tears still dripping down onto the paper, smudging the ink, just as Sunghoon smudged her heart.
