Legend of Zelda, The Mask of Majora

The Deku Palace

"That mask... the Skull Kid uses the power of that mask to do those terrible things", Tatl stated, "well... whatever it takes, we've gotta do something about it",

"We know... I'm just curious about the four others", Link said

"Me too... at least we're close to our destination, we can get some answers there", Kate said; as they neared the entrance to the swamp, Tatl flew toward a tree; there, Link and Kate saw a drawing of the Skull Kid, without the mask on

"Oh, I remember this, Tael and I drew this with the Skull Kid when we first met him", Tatl explained, "...he told us that he had been fighting with his friends and they left him all alone... when we became friends with him, we had so much fun playing together... I'm sure it was because he was always playing tricks, so nobody wanted to play with him; but to do what he did just because of that... he stole the mask, and once he got his power...",

"Tatl", Kate called out in a gentle tone, but Tatl said nothing, returning back to Link and Kate; the two continued forward into the swamp in silence; there they were greeted by water with a purplish color to it, and a few buildings around them.

"Something doesn't feel right here", Link said, looking around the area

"It's the water... I wouldn't recommend stepping in it", Kate said

"Looks like we can get to the other side through there", Link stated, pointing toward a few lily pads in the water

"I don't think they'll support both our weight", Kate said

"What about the mask... it can get one of us through with ease", Link asked as Kate pulled out the mask

"I don't know about this", Kate said, unease in her tone

"What did it feel like when you had it on", Link asked

"At first, a stabbing headache... then it's back to normal", Kate explained

"I'll wear the mask if you don't want to", Link reassured

"It's not just that...", Kate began, unable to come up with any words

"Hey... it's ok", Link reassured, enveloping Kate into a hug

"I know we have to save this place... but after what happened", Kate explained, "I just don't want that to repeat itself here",

"I know it's hard, but we can do this", Link stated, "we've hopefully prevented what happened during the seven years; I know deep down we can do this together",

"I know... I just don't have belief in myself", Kate muttered, she and Link separating from each other

"You'll do great, I know it", Link encouraged; Kate starred at the mask once again before letting out a sigh

"Alright, you go first, I'll follow behind using the mask", Kate stated as Link nodded his head; jumping on the lily pads, they began to sink, but stayed afloat as Link jumped on each one, making it to the other side; Kate then put on the mask, transforming back into a Deku, then began jumping onto the lily pads, with how light she was, the lily pads didn't move; soon after, both were on the other side and Kate took off the mask, reverting back to her normal self; exploring around, both were told of the swamp's curse, and the Deku Palace held some answers; making their way back, Link and Kate eventually made it to the Deku Palace.

"Here we are", Link said

"Ready to go in", Kate asked

"Yeah, let's go", Link said, as the two approached the entrance, two Deku guards popped up from the ground, blocking the entrance
