The Mountain

Making their way up the mountain path, a blast of cold air hit them, causing both to shiver; snow was falling, but they weren't high up where it could snow, nor was it cold down the mountain, yet it was similar to the swamp, they had to fix this place.

"A-are we almost there", Kate asked, her whole body shaking from the cold

"I-I think so", Link responded, the two entered the mountain village, it was deserted but a few remained... a few Gorons; but what Link and Kate could see atop a cliff was a cave entrance; carefully climbing up, they entered the cave and saw what appeared to be of a gravestone inside; approaching the grave, a ghost of a Goron appeared

"The soaring one said the ones who could see me would be arriving soon... it seems that it turned out to be true", the Goron said

"Who are you", Link asked

"I am Darmani the Third, the blood of proud Goron heroes runs in me", Darmani stated, "this feels strange to me to say, but when I was alive, I was a renowned warrior and veteran; yes... when I was alive... but alas... I am now dead", Darmani's face held sadness, trying to hold it back, "I was fine until I marched off to Snowhead by myself, hoping that I could drive off that demon, it had been wreaking havoc on Goron Village... then the blizzard at Snowhead blew me into the valley... and now, here... how infuriating",

"Link, Snowhead's our best bet", Kate whispered as Link nodded his head

"As I am, I can only watch as Goron Village is slowly buried in ice", Darmani muttered, sadly, "...I may have died, but I cannot rest... the soaring one said you possess magic; I beg you, bring me back to life with your magic; if it is beyond your power, then I beg of you to do this for me instead... heal my sorrows, any way that you can do it will suffice... please... heal my sorrows",

"Kate, think that song would work", Link asked, "the one you learned that restored you",

"I'll give it a shot", Kate said; pulling out the ocarina, she played the Song of Healing; as the melody echoed around the room, it was enough to put Darmani in tears, but heal his sorrows; as Darmani disappeared, a Goron mask was left behind which Link picked up.

"Think it could be another changing mask", Link asked

"One way to find out", Kate said; Link turned the mask around and carefully put it on, transforming into a Goron

"Looks like we have two masks to work with", Link stated, taking the mask off

"We have our destination, but blizzard...", Kate began

"Goron Village might know something about it", Link explained

"We've been there... it's abandoned", Kate stated

"Remember seven years", Link asked, "when Hyrule Castle Town was destroyed, where did the people take refuge",

"Kakariko Village", Kate said

"And the Zora's, where did they go", Link asked

"The caves", Kate responded

"I have a feeling the Goron's are still here, hiding where it's warm", Link explained, "Come on, the sun will be setting soon and we'll only have tonight and two days to go",

"Alright, let's go", Kate said; running out of the cave and climbing down, Link and Kate re-entered Goron Village and successfully found the hiding place where the Gorons were, but what filled their ears were the wails of a child, but no matter how much the other Gorons were attempting to soothe him, it wasn't working, but they were talking about a lullaby

"That lullaby could get us in", Link stated

"Then you'll have to go in and get it", Kate said

"What about you", Link asked

"The Goron Mask is similar to Darmani", Kate explained, pulling out the ocarina and handing it to Link, "if I wear it and enter, they'll notice something wrong... I'm not a guy; just go in, learn the song, then teach it to me",

"Alright, shouldn't be long", Link said, pulling the mask out, putting it on and entering the room; Kate stood outside, she then heard a soothing song; the song echoed around the cave, putting the Gorons to sleep, even Kate rubbed her eyes

"Got it", Link said, rolling toward Kate's side and taking off the mask

"I heard... made almost everyone fall asleep", Kate replied

"I can tell it almost made you fall asleep too", Link stated

"Yeah, almost", Kate muttered

"Here, I'll teach you the song on our way to Snowhead", Link said, handing the ocarina back to Kate

"Thanks", Kate said, rather than leaving, Link and Kate slid sown the wall, "when was the last time we had sleep",

"Before we took on the first temple", Link responded, in his voice, she could tell that he was tired as well

"Then let's rest up... Tatl's already down", Kate said, both looking at the sleeping fairy in between them, "almost like seven years... right",

"Almost like it", Link responded, Kate's head soon fell on Link's shoulder, she was out; Link couldn't help but smile as his head fell on hers, falling asleep right beside her.
