Snowhead

(Dawn of the Second Day, 48 Hours Remain)

"Link, Kate, wake up", Tatl called out, hitting them on the head

"Navi", both Link and Kate muttered in unison, slowly waking up, only to see Tatl

"Link, Kate, it's dawn already... we have to get to Snowhead", Tatl reminded as the two got up, stretching their limbs

"Day two", Kate mumbled, rubbing her eyes

"Ready to head out", Link asked, still tired

"...No, wanna go back to sleep", Kate muttered

"I know... I do too, but we gotta go", Link said as Kate nodded her head; leaving the cave, the cold air instantly woke the two up; traveling down the path, both Link and Kate arrived at Snowhead Temple where the blizzard was coming from... only to come across a giant Goron who appeared to be guarding the entrance.

"Remember the song I taught you", Link asked, holding out the Goron Mask

"Yeah", Kate said, grabbing and putting the mask on; pulling out the ocarina which was now drums, Kate played the song; it echoed across the valley, putting the Goron to sleep and allowing them access inside.

"Nice job", Link said as Kate took off the mask, handing it back to Link

"You could've played it too", Kate responded

"True, but you played it better than me", Link complimented

"...No... it's about the same", Kate stated

"Come on, let's get inside and save this place", Link said as Kate nodded her head; carefully navigating through the path no longer disturbed by the blizzard, Link and Kate entered Snowhead Temple; inside, they found a monster, frozen in ice

"Here we are... but how are we gonna get that thing out and defeat it", Kate asked

"There has to be a way to melt the ice", Link stated, "let's search around, there has to be something here",

"Got it", Kate responded, both walking around the circular room, eventually finding a way to defrost the monster; the ice melted and the monster roared, charging forward, both Link and Kate rolled out of the way

"Stay here... I'll try and knock him over", Link said, putting the Goron Mask on, "when he's down, hit him with everything you got",

"...I'll try... just be careful, Link", Kate asked

"Always am", Link said, rolling after the monster; Kate pulled out her sword, waiting for Link to come, she could hear the monsters footsteps as it ran around the room; as it approached, Link knocked it over, revealing its weak spot; Kate wasted no time, running toward the monster and stabbing it; the monster roared as it got up, Kate's sword still lodged in its weak spot

"Link, hit it once more... aim where my swords at", Kate shouted

"On it", Link said, rolling after it once again, gaining enough speed, Link lept off and hit Kate's sword further into the monster; the monster let out a roar, crashing into the wall, rocks fell from above, burying the monster, dead; taking off the mask, Link walked up to the rubble and picked up Kate's sword from the ground; from the corner of his eye, he also saw another mask... it gave off similar vibes as the one from the swamp; Link carefully picked it up, carefully looking at it

"LINK", Kate shouted; Link's head snapped toward Kate who ran up to him, hugging him, "I heard the noise... I thought...",

"I'm fine, promise', Link reassured, holding Kate sword out which she took; he then held up the mask, "also got another one of these",

"...I don't like these masks", Kate muttered

"Me either", Link said as Kate took the mask and placed it within her satchel with the first monster's mask; white light soon filled the room, Link and Kate found themselves standing on another platform, another giant was seen

"W-what exactly are all of you", Tatl asked as the giant kept singing

"What's it saying", Kate asked

"Guardians", Tatl said

"Guardians", Link asked

"So... you're protective gods", Tatl asked, "that's why you're in the temples... but... why are the protective gods...", the giant began backing away, "no, wait, are you listening to me, hey, wait...",

The light died down, Link and Kate were no longer in Snowhead, but back in the mountain village; the snow was melting, and spring was back at the mountain, a warm, gentle breeze greeted Link and Kate

"Another area saved, and with a day to spare", Kate responded, "anything you wanna do before we head out to either ocean or canyon",

"Yeah, come on", Link said, grabbing Kate's hand and running into Goron Village; it was no longer abandoned, and explored around, Link even participating in a Goron race as a Goron and won, using the rewards of the race to upgrade their swords, and just having fun spending the day in Goron Village; as the third day came in, both Link and Kate played the Song of Time, warping back to Clock Town and back to the first day.
