"Not seeing a temple", Link said
"Cause I have to open it up using the Deku Pipes the Ocarina transforms to when I'm in Deku form", Kate explained
"Alright, hopefully this doesn't take long", Link said
"I know, we're already halfway into the second day", Kate muttered, approaching a platform and putting the mask back on, "you ready",
"Ready as I'll ever be", Link said as Kate pulled out the Deku Pipes and played the song she learned from the monkey; there, the temple began rising from the water
"There we are", Kate said, taking the mask off
"This may be like the other temples, you ready to fight", Link asked
"Ready as I'll ever be", Kate responded; not long after, the three ran into the temple; inside, the two were greeted by a large, open room; then, something jumped down, it appeared to be of a large man in a jungle-type mask, in its hands were a sword and a shield; it began jumping around the room, attempting to slice them in half.
"Kate... drawing blanks here", Link said as Kate began looking around the room, her eyes landing on a few bombs
"There's bombs over there, of we can stun him, we can attack", Kate explained
"Alright, but there's no way both of us can hit him together", Link stated
"Then leave the bombs to me, when he's down, hit him as hard as you can", Kate said as Link nodded his head; Kate then ran toward the bombs as Link kept the monster distracted; quickly picking up a bomb, Kate threw it at the monster, it exploded, knocking him down allowing Link to hit it; as it got up, it began to chant, sending creatures out to distract them.
"There's no way we can hit him with another one", Link said, slashing at the creatures while avoiding the monster's attacks
"Then we'll have to lure him to the bombs", Kate responded
"Alright, follow my lead", Link stated as Kate nodded her head; dodging the monsters attacks once again, both Link and Kate made a beeline toward the bombs, the monster following while slashing its sword behind them; with the bombs in front of them, Link and Kate turned around, facing the monster, the creature went in for a stab, only for Link and Kate to dodge, jumping away from the bombs as the creature's sword hit them; the bombs went off, and the monster fell, dead; it's mask was the only thing left behind, as Link picked it up, the area around turned white; they were now on a platform...
"What's that", Tatl asked; from the distance, there was a giant, and it began to sing, "wait... listen... it seems to be saying something... could that crying be its way of teaching us some sort of melody",
"Do you think...", Link began
"It's possible", Kate said
"Don't just stand there, get your instrument", Tatl stated; as Kate pulled out the ocarina, Tatl began repeating the melody the giant was singing; the giant's melody and the ocarinas melody mixing together, "Call us... that's what it's saying",
The room turned back to normal, however, Link and Kate were in front of a barricaded room, before they could open it up, Tatl flew above them
"The four people Tael talked about... do you think he was talking about the spirit that was sealed inside that mask", Tatl asked
"I don't know", Link said, looking at the new mask
"Oh, hey, you two were pretty good out there", Tatl complimented, "have you done this before or what",
"Long story", Kate said
"Now, just keep up that pace and save the other three", Tatl said, "hey, um... all that stuff I did you you both... your horse... I... I apologize",
"It's alright... let's put it aside for now", Link said, though his voice held a hint of sadness
"Tatl... did the Skull Kid...", Kate began, unsure if she wanted to know Epona's fate
"No... she's still alive", Tatl reassured, earning a shocked look from both Link and Kate, "he hid her somewhere, but if you save the Skull Kid, she should come back",
"Then let's not waste any time", Link stated with newfound confidence; destroying the barrier, both Link and Kate found the princess and raced back to the Deku Palace, and with the swamp returned to normal, it made the travel a lot easier
"Here... I don't think I'll be welcome there after what happened", Kate said, handing Link the mask, "just be careful",
"Alright, I shouldn't be too long", Link said, putting the mask on; as Link was now a Deku, both looked up at the moon, it was close... their time was almost up
"Once this is over, we'll have to restart the three days", Kate stated
"Last I saw, there were dark storm clouds around", Link explained, "we'll check it out when we go back",
"Alright, after that, it's either Mountain, Ocean, or Canyon", Kate said
"We'll discuss it later", Link said
"Alright, good luck in there... and be careful", Kate asked
"Always am", Link stated, running into the Deku Palace; Kate sat down near the entrance, looking at the palace from afar; Kate couldn't help but think about what they saw back at the temple... what would happen when the days were reset, would they have to fix the forest again, and the mask, what would happen if they put it on... even Link had a look when he saw the mask, it was clear to her that neither of them would wear it; after awhile, Link ran out, no longer in Deku form, Kate got up and made her way over to Link
"Everything's finished up here, and the monkey sends his thanks", Link stated
"I'm glad he's alright", Kate said
"You ready to go", Link asked
"Yeah... I'm just worried though", Kate said
"I understand, but there's only one way to find out", Link explained, "if it does, then it should be a lot easier to fix it",
"Alright... ready", Kate asked, pulling the ocarina out
"Let's go", Link said, he and Tatl scooting close to Kate as she played the Song of Time; the swamp reversed, almost as if they were leaving as the moon moved away, the sun setting and rising backward; as the song stopped, they were back in Clock Town
"Ready to go see", Link asked
"Yeah, let's go", Kate said; Link and Kate ran toward the south entrance of Clock Town; outside, nothing seemed to indicate the swamp area was in danger, "That's a relief... where to next",
"The mountain's next", Link said
"That's the north entrance of Clock Town", Kate stated, she and Link looking at the moon once again, "let's get moving, and hope we can finish up before we make it to the third day",
"I agree", Link said; running back into Clock Town, Link and Kate made their way to the north side of town and leaving through the northern exit and ran toward the mountains.
