CHAPTER TEN

❝ We'll kill them... ❞
Ryoko glared hard at whatever was behind Ban, the taller male slowly turning around to see whatever she was glaring at but saw nothing which caused him to scrunch his face up in confusion.
"Whaddya glaring at? I don't see anything?" He asked craning his head back to see the fierce red glow her eyes emitted before he was moved to the side.
"Because it's dead. This evil spirit has the nerve to demand me of something." Ryoko spat as she turned her hands that was surrounded by a red glow around in weird way before shooting her magic power forward.
Ban watched as the invisible being that was behind him was in engulfed in an red aura which allowed it to be seen and he cringed at the horrible appearance of the spirit.
"Kill everyone or die!" It screamed as it rushed forward towards Ryoko with malice but Ryoko flicked her one of her hands upwards and the spirit hit the ceiling.
"It's truly a shame of what happened to you but it doesn't mean you demand me, The Dragon Empress, to do your dirty work!" Ryoko growled, her red eyes glowing menacingly as she clenched her fist and the spirit screamed in pain as its body was engulfed in flames.
"Igneel." She called out to her dragon and not a second later, the menacing but powerful reptile beast appeared. The dragon growled at the flaming form of the spirit before he rose up to the ceiling and opened his mouth.
Ban watched with a raised brow as Igneel ate the spirit and descended back down to Ryoko with a content expression on his scaly snout. "Thank you Igneel." Ryoko gave him a small pat on his face and Igneel blew smoke at her before he disappeared.
"What did you do?" Ban questioned followed after the woman since she had walked out the room. "I basically put the spirit to peace. Igneel is like an entryway way to heaven for spirits. Spirits who can't move on and hate that they died usually turn evil despising everyone and everything. Igneel purifies that hate by eating them." Ryoko explained.
Ban just nodded at her explanation before they were out of the cottage and back outside the sunlight shining down on them. "I'm going to look around more for this person cause somehow they're related to my home. You can do whatever you like for the time being." Ryoko said as she she began walking towards the alleyway they came from before she stopped to turn her head back to look at Ban.
"Oh, and don't follow with me." Before he could react or respond she had disappeared in thin air and Ban widen his eyes as he frantically looked around the area for her form.
"What the hell.." He groaned in annoyance and brought his hand down his face before he sighed. He shoved his hands in his pants pockets before quickly walking off to find his captain.
'She's beginning to become a pain in the ass..'

Ryoko appeared in a clearing of trees, she quickly realizing she was in the woods before she crouched down to ground at seeing footprints. "These are fresh.." She murmured touching the one of footprints littered in the sand before she furrowed her brows at seeing the footprint glowing red.
The red aura went away as quickly as it came since Ryoko had removed her hand and stood up with unreadable expression on her face. She faced the left side of the forest and began walking, following after the path the footprints were headed in.
<Igneel.>
<Yes?>
<We would've both knew if someone from home had survived, right?>
<Yes, my empress.>
<Then why is this magic power reacting to mine and feels like home?>
<...I truly don't know, my apologies.>
<It's alright Igneel. Just keep your guard up and if we find this person, we'll kill them.>
Ending their mental conversation, Ryoko trekked deeper into the woods now with Igneel present looming over her menacingly as he looked for any threats.

"Ban, where is Ryoko?" Meliodas asked the tall man who was currently leaning against the wall with his arms crossed. "I don't fuckin' know..! She just disappeared after doing some weird shit in a old cottage we found." Ban grumbled out his brows furrowed together in irritation.
Meliodas raised a brow at this before chuckling, amusement evident in his features. "Anyway, an old cottage? What did she do?" Meliodas leaned against the wall as well and crossed his arms over his chest. Ban sighed trying to think of a way to answer his captain.
"I'm going to be fuckin' honest, I don't even know how to tell you since I don't even know myself." Ban confessed and grunted. Meliodas chuckled at him again and left the wall the face him.
"Alrighty then! But Merlin should be done with gathering information in any moment by now. From there, we'll look for Ryoko before turning to the tavern to figure out leads." Meliodas told him before the door flew open to reveal Merlin.
"Captain, the mayor told me everything about this mysterious man and said he resides in the outskirts of the village." Merlin informed, her eyes moving from Meliodas to Ban. She hummed when seeing that Ryoko wasn't present.
"Where's the Dragon Empress? Or did you back out of your deal with her?" Merlin questioned with a small smirk but before Ban could answer her, the door to the mayor's office swung open.
"Miss. Merlin! There's a urgent problem! The forest! It's on fire! Please help to put it out!" The mayor cried in complete distress and the sins looked at each other with a knowing glance.
"Don't worry! We'll check out what's the problem and get everything sorted out." Meliodas reassured giving the mayor a small smile before turning around to walk out the manor with his teammates behind him.
They all knew the forest suddenly being on fire had to do with one certain person and that certain person being...
