Immy wriggled about on the blue hard plastic seat. She just couldn't get comfy no matter how hard she tried. She stood up and walked over to the magazine rack that was on the far side of the waiting room. She looked through what was on offer and returned to her seat with a copy of Hello that was three months out of date.

"Everything will be ok," Joel said from the seat next to her. "You need to stop stressing. It's not good for the baby."

"I'm trying Joel, I'm trying, but I can't stop worrying that it's going to be like last time."

"It won't! You have to stay positive. You feel pregnant this time, don't you? You're still being sick in the mornings, you're even starting to get a little tiny bump."

Immy's hand instinctively went to her stomach. She smiled as she remembered running into the lounge three mornings earlier, excitedly pulling her top up to show Joel the tiny bump that had sprouted out of nowhere.

"I know logically that things will probably be ok, but after last time..." Joel took her hand in his. He gave it a reassuring squeeze.

"I know Immy. I know."

"I just wish they'd hurry up. I really need to pee!"

Joel laughed. He was staying positive but inside he was just as worried as she was. He didn't know how she'd cope if she lost this baby too.

Five weeks had passed since she'd moved in with him. She was putting on a brave face, but Joel knew she was struggling.   He had a feeling that Seb meant more to Immy than she was letting on.   There was no way she'd left Switzerland just because she was pregnant.  She'd left because she couldn't bear to see Seb all loved up with his family while she was alone.

To his delight Immy and Hannah got on like a house on fire.  Of course he'd told Hannah all about Immy, how she'd been his best friend, about how he'd stupidly ruined their friendship.   He'd been worried that Hannah might think that he still had feelings for Immy but she'd believed him when he'd told her he hadn't.

If he was completely honest with himself Immy would always be the love of his life, but he had accepted that it was never going to happen.   He was content with just having her in his life.  And he did love Hannah, he really did.  He could see himself spending the rest of his life with her.

"Imogen Miller," called a very smiley looking blonde woman.   Immy put the magazine down on the seat next to her and stood up,  Joel followed suite.

"I feel sick," Immy said.

"It's just nerves.   You'll be fine," Joel told her.  Immy nodded.  She began to take deep breaths as she crossed the waiting room to where the woman was stood.

Her stomach was churning.   She felt like turning and running away.  If she didn't have the scan she wouldn't get any bad news. As she reached the woman she felt the bile rising from her stomach.   She put her hand over her mouth, turned and ran for the toilet.

Joel looked at the woman and shrugged.  "Morning sickness," he said.   She smiled kindly.

"That's ok.  We get a lot of that."

Several minutes later Immy returned looking extremely pale.  The woman smiled at her.  "You ok love?"

Immy nodded wearily. "Yeah.  I'm so sorry."

"Don't you worry about it.   Now come on through. Let's see this baby of yours."

Immy and Joel followed the woman into the room. "If you'd like to lay on the bed and pull your top up."
