"What if they don't like me?" Immy asked for what felt like the hundredth time since breakfast. Today was the day that Seb's parents and his brother, Fabian, were coming to meet her and Noah for the first time.
Noah was now five weeks old, and 2023 was entering its second week. The Vettels were visiting for a couple of days, and then Seb would be returning to Switzerland, accompanied by parents. There he would be visiting his lawyer to instigate legal proceedings against Juliet to gain access to his daughters. Juliet had ignored several attempts he'd made since Christmas to talk and come to a resolution. Her only response had been to tell him to go and fuck himself.
"Of course they will like you. What's not to like?" Seb replied cheerily. He was in a great mood despite his struggles with Juliet. He was excited about introducing his son to his family, just like any proud father would be.
"Oh I don't know, let me think. Maybe because you cheated on your wife with me, left your wife and children to find me, found out I was pregnant with a baby I hadn't told you about, and now you're living in sin with me in my best friend's pokey little flat. Great catch aren't I?"
Seb shook his head. What could he say? All of her points were valid. After thinking about it for a moment he began to speak.
"They know you didn't know I was married, I made sure I told them that. They don't know about the second time. They don't need to know. As for me leaving Juliet, they never liked her and they know about her and Marc. Of course they worry about the girls but they know I will fight tooth and nail to be in their lives and they will never have to go without. They know why you left, and they know you came back to try and tell me. As for living here, it's only temporary. Soon we'll be living in my pokey little flat in Kreuzlingen."
"I'm just really nervous." Seb wrapped his arms around her waist and pulled her up against his body.
"I know you are, but everything will be fine. I promise you. They're all looking forward to meeting you."
Immy wasn't so sure about that. Of course they would be looking forward to meeting Noah, he was their family, she wasn't.
"Crap, I need to go and have a quick shower before they get here, and get some clean clothes on. God knows what I look like."
"Immy, just breathe. You've got an hour yet. Take your time. Noah and I will survive without you while you get ready, just stop getting in a flap." Immy laughed. She was getting into a bit of a flap. Seb released her and flopped down onto the sofa. "Go on, go!"
Immy didn't need telling twice. She left the lounge after saying bye bye to Noah, who was in his bouncer chair, and headed down the hallway to her bedroom. She opened her drawers and found clean clothes, grabbed a clean towel from on top of the drawers and headed to the bathroom.
She had a long, hot shower, shampooing and conditioning her hair. She didn't want to get out but she knew she had to get dressed and get Noah changed into the cute little outfit she and Seb had chosen for him to wear to meet his grandparents and uncle for the first time.
She dried herself, wrapped her hair up in her towel and then put on her knickers and bra, followed by her navy blue jersey dress. She added her tan leather belt over the top and then went back to the bedroom.
She glanced at the alarm clock. She had thirty five minutes left. That would be long enough to at least partly dry her hair. She plugged her hairdryer in and sat down on the bed.
Ten minutes later she decided it was dry enough. She French braided the top half of her hair and left the rest hanging loose. She sprayed some perfume on , and then slipped some trainer socks on and put on her tan knee high leather boots. She looked at herself in the mirror and applied minimal make up.
