THE KINGDOM OF DREAMS
Back in his realm, Matthew did his very best to cheer up his master after this utterly disappointing experience.
"Don't worry, Boss!", the raven called out, stroking Morpheus' sad looking face with his black feathers.
"We'll get your violin back, no matter the cost. And if we won't manage it, you still can look for another instrument to play - maybe the guitar? I think you would make a kinda good piano player..."
Morpheus sighed heavily, resting his arms in his lap.
"It is not that easy, Matthew. I have to get this violin back, otherwise my realm would turn to dust yet again. I created this realm with this violin, it means everything to me. Did you not have something in your former life which you loved so much that just thinking about it was hard enough?"
Just as the raven wanted to respond, Passion came storming into the Throne Room:
"Brother, I may know where your violin is. I just asked the Fates for help and they said something about...well, see for yourself!"
Morpheus stood up, his eyes glinting with hope.
If one could help him finding his instrument, the Fates were that one - or the ones.
They had helped him with his other tools and now, they would lead him right to his violin.
Surely, they would.
But first, he had to visit an old friend.
THE WAKING WORLD _
PRIMROSE UNIVERSITY
Professor Hob Gadling had never felt so lost in a crowded room full of his students.
They seemed to observe him, watching him like an ancient relic that wasn't meant to be watched.
Not meant to be lost.
And yet...he felt so lonely like he had never been in ages.
Left behind by that one friend from which Hob had thought of more - more than a friend, but his one true love.
But for an Immortal, love wasn't meant to end well.
It never had.
So, why still trust that one friend if he had better things to do than bragging about love?
He had a job to do and if he didn't do it, he would get fired.
Cast out, just like in the old days.
If only he would still be with him, comforting him without even noticing...
"Professor?", one of his students asked, starting to grow impatient.
The others did too, shuffling in their seats.
"Could you maybe go on with the lecture, I want to get home sooner or later!"
Hob nodded, nervously grabbing the piece of chalk behind him.
"As you may know, William Shakespeare wrote many plays like Romeo and Juliet, A Midsummer Night's Dream or even Hamlet. Can anyone tell me which of those are remaining famous to this day?"
His voice was shaking, but at least he tried to stay calm.
Raising her hand, a ginger haired girl explained:
"This might be Romeo and Juliet, Professor. It tells the story about two lovers, bound to their utterly opposite families and the grief they feel at the end when they cannot be together anymore. Just how it is in life - the more you want something or someone, the more it can slip away, being affected by the environment. Until you meet it at the very end, realising you can't have it. That's why it is so important to hold on, grab the opportunity and make sure you never let go of it. Isn't that correct, Professor?"
Hob couldn't quite focus on the answer, cause all of a sudden, his friend walked in the classroom.
That friend he had thought of never meeting with again.
"Hello, Hob!", Morpheus whispered, making heads turning into his direction.
