can't get you off my mind

Iwaizumi said nothing after that, the only sound coming from the gust of trash circling the concrete and my heart palpitating.

"W-why." My squeaky voice managed to stutter. His hair always looked a dark brown color. But as the street lamp cast a soft glow around him, there were hints of cinnamon and coffee decorating his hair. All I could obsess about was wondering how it would feel if I ran my fingers through it.

"To apologize." He wholeheartedly said. "Because I'm an asshole...I was upset. Then I saw you at school, I was cold to you, and you didn't deserve it." His fingers twitched on the side of his jeans like a nervous twitch.

"Why were you angry?" He was apologizing for something so minuscule. Yet it meant so much to me and to Iwaizumi as well.

"It's dumb..." he lets out an embarrassed chuckle, "you're going to laugh..."

The time at the record store, he placed his hand on top of mine. I was nervous, and he was calming me down. Something came over me at this moment, and my entire being wanted nothing else but to reach over and grab him.

Before my mind could even talk me out of doing it, my arm was already reaching for his forearm. "You can tell me." A sudden rush of heat flowed throughout my body, realizing I was touching his arm. Instantaneously, my face flushed a bright stop sign color.

But before I allowed him to recoil from my touch, I loosened my grip, "sorry." I mumbled. I always told myself that I was not a fan of physical contact. Yet all I wanted to do was keep touching him. His skin felt so warm on the cold spring night.

"When I saw you that night at the party, I don't know, but I felt so angry." He spoke, all while stopping my hand from moving away from him. Our hands linked together as he let out a soft chuckle as if he could feel how fast my heart was pulsing.

"Angry about what?" Suddenly the concrete ground is all I can focus on because if I looked into his eyes, I'd probably melt.

"A drunken man threatened me to stay away from you, and I thought..."

"Wait, wait." A sudden giggle erupted from my lips, "did you think Rio and me?"

To Iwaizumi's defense, we don't really go around announcing we're related, let alone twins. So Iwaizumi's perception was somewhat valid.

"Rio is my brother, my twin brother." I clarify as the giggles turn into uncontrollable laughter.

"Yeah, well, I figured that out too late..." Iwaizumi playfully rolls his eyes, "hey, you said you wouldn't laugh!" Even though he also can't help but join in with the laughter. "Let me make it up to you, Rin. Maybe with some food?"

Giving him a look of confusion, wondering if I heard him correctly. "Oh, like a bribe?"

"Sure, a bribe." He chuckles, "...or a date."

A date.

Iwaizumi asked me on a date.
A date with Iwaizumi.
Yes, yes, yes.

I try to hide my excitement, but like with most things, my blushing face can't hide the truth.

"I'll have to double-check with my boyfriend." I jokingly say, praying that he understands my sarcasm.

"Funny. you're funny." He playfully rolls his eyes at my remark.

I almost forgot I was holding his hand this entire time if it wasn't for his sudden grip, softly pushing me toward his body. All I could do was let out a breathy gasp at the sudden impact as his hand moved to the small of my back, scorching me with his soft touch. Our bodies collided with one another as he held me in his arms. Almost instinctively, my hand reaches out in front of me, placing the palm of my hand on his chest. Like a steady drumming beat, his heart danced on my fingertips. "You know, I'm quite competitive." His voice hums lowly. The smell of spearmint gum and cedarwood cologne tickles my nose. His face was inches away from mine, smirking, enjoying my eyes widening as my entire body flushed with his action.
