The doors shut behind them, the resounding slam echoing what we all knew: they were locked in.
Mr Thompson spoke first, outraged.
"Why have you brought us here?"
"Great question. Let me counter with another great question: Why are you forcing two teenagers to get engaged?"
No one answers. Instead Hans observes, taking in Kat beside me.
"I'll get to the point. I want a civilised conversation between all of us. I have some rather unsavoury facts about Oliver Wallin that could ruin this engagement deal for the both of you.
"Now, if I don't send a message to my partners about the state of affairs in this room, they will not hesitate to carry out my orders to release everything I have on Oliver here. So let's talk shall we?"
Again, no immediate responses. I supposed their aged minds did need time to process.
"I know you're not a fan of me Mr Thompson, but I'm doing you a favour by informing you ahead this time. You're not going to want to be tied to the Wallin name once I'm done with them."
"What are you up to?"
"The usual. Cause chaos by revealing the dirty deeds of the rich. I'm a twisted Robin Hood, a little spin on the fairy tale. But don't worry, I'm not after your dirty deeds, if you have any hidden of course." I give him a once over before I switch back to Hans. "I'm after this man and his son." Oliver bristles. The plan he knew was going to shambles.
"His son is responsible for the forceful abortion of a pregnancy he caused. Lot of blackmail involved there. If this marriage deal didn't go as planned, I'd expect blackmail against you in an instant. That's how Wallins work apparently." I shrug, "No offence, it's a very good plan, but using the same technique is bound to get you caught."
"You wouldn't." I smirk.
"Then you clearly don't know me. Do you know who revealed Belinda Evan's drug empire? Do you know who wrecked the Hope Quinn money laundry? Or maybe you know it as a charity. I mean my promises as well as my threats."
"You said you wouldn't release anything." Oliver hissed.
Gracefully, I sit down on a chair facing the men. "Whoops, did I? Must have been lying. But...I'm open for negotiations." Otherwise, we wouldn't be having this conversation entirely.
We needed to establish boundaries. Releasing the things we had would not guarantee Katrina's safety in all this.
"Now sit please. I have little to say, and we can get this over with very quickly."
"What do you want?" Hans spoke finally. He refused to sit, never able to lose dominance in a room. And I'd been told, if someone speaks to you standing as you sit, rise to their level. In my opinion, it's for the dominance, not the respect.
