The Red Keep, King's Landing
113 AC
Alicent didn't understand.
When the news of the birth of Prince Aemon and Princess Aemma Targaryen was announced, she had been delighted. Rhaenyra obviously had to father her heirs on a stud, and the bastards non Valyrian looks would be apparent obviously.
Except... the children were somehow legitimate!
Aemon had the darker skin of his father, the silver-gold hair of his mother, and pale violet eyes of his grandmother.
Aemma to had pale violet eyes, pale silver-gold hair, and the pale alabaster tone of her grandmother to Rhaenyra's pale porcelain skin tone.
Laela had something to do with this. Alicent knew it in her heart, her soul, that her former friend had been involved.
But she had no proof.
Alicent picked at her nails for the first time in years, but in anger. Her friend turned stepdaughter had even surrounded herself with ladies in waiting!
It was Alicent who was suppose to show her the true path. How could a barbarian Stark and a foolish lion ever compare to a Hightower of Oldtown?
It doesn't matter. So long as my line, the true line, sits on the Iron Throne.
That is today's chapter. I hope you enjoyed it!
