Tam letter showed up on my desk at midnight. But it was written messily and fast. And it wasn't written in his usual lead pencil. It was written in dark, black, ink.
Almost like shadowvaper.
And it was written on a leaf.
But that wasn't the part that sent fear crawling in my heart. It was the last words Tam said.
HELP. HELP ME I'M-
HELP. HELP ME I'M-
HELP. HELP ME I'M-
Those words echoed around in my brain as I called Sophie in a blind rush. She picked up right before the last ring, like she was debating on whether to pick up or not.
"Biana? What is it?" She said groggily.
"Tam," I breathed restlessly, "Tam-"
"What?" She rubbed her eyes and yawned, "Tam..?"
I quickly read her the letter, and with each line her face grew paler. And my fear grew. By the time I'd finished it, blinding tears were in the corners of my eyes.
"So you're telling me that Tam's being magically sending you letters from Exillium?" She said doubtfully.
"Are you trying to tell me that you don't believe me? Tam needs our help! We don't have time for your doubts!"
"Biana, I know you miss him, but you can't just make up random letters to convince me to go and find him-"
"I DIDN'T MAKE IT UP!" I screamed suddenly, "HE'S IN DANGER AND HE NEEDS ME!" A tear ran down my cheek before I stop it, "And I need him," I muttered.
Sophie was quiet for a long time.
I bit my lip, "I'm sorry, Sophie. I'm just... So scared. Tam needs me and... I don't know what to do."
Sophie sighed, "We're gonna go find him."
"Now?"
"Yes, now. I'll be at your house in five."
