Chapter Sixteen~Lies

My eyes shot open to the soft creak of a door being opened.

"Who's there?" I demanded into the darkness. The girl next to me was muttering something to herself. It almost sounded as though she was singing.

"Funny, I thought you would have remembered me." Suddenly the dim lightbulb hanging from the ceiling flicked on, and a cloaked face appeared in front of me. Dark hands reached up and pulled back the night black hood, to reveal someone I never would have suspected.

It was my teacher.

She laughed at my shocked expression and examined her blood-red fingers with an almost child-like curiosity.

"You're working with the Neverseen?!" I cried.

"White eyes," The girl corrected quietly, then went on to repeat that over and over again.

She laughed again. Psychotic.

"That was your dark secret?! Then why did you order me not to tell anyone, why didn't you just capture me on the spot?"

"Oh silly, I knew you didn't know my secret. No one did," She laughed again, "And I'm not the only one," Her voice had a sing-song tone to it, "Come out little Abigail," She said cheerfully, like a child unwrapping a long-awaited gift.

"Hi, Mommy," She said, pulling down her hood. It was the same girl that led me to that creepy spot in the forest!

"You?!"

"Me!" She giggled, clutching a teddy bear to her chest.

"What do you want from me? I don't know anything, I swear," I promised.

"Well, Tam. We need you to find someone. Someone very important to Gisela's little plan. We need you to track down someone by the name of Keefe. Keefe Sencen."

The room suddenly felt three times colder, and a dark pit in my heart swelled larger than before, "I'll never help you find him. Haven't you tortured him enough? What could you possibly want from him?"

The woman ignored my other questions as she chuckled, "Oh, but you will. Because we have your greatest weakness. Don't we darling?"

"That's right, Mommy!" She nodded, a fake, innocent smile on her face.

"I don't have any weaknesses," I growled, trying desperately to free myself from these ropes once again.

"He lies. Lies. Disguise. Eyes. White eyes..." The girl next to me trailed off.

"Seems tough boy here does have a weakness after all. For a second there I thought we'd have to change the plan."

My brain worked at a thousand miles per minute. That girl next to me, she was able to tell that I was lying. Maybe she was an empath? But that didn't make sense, I could tell she was clearly a human, after all, she was speaking English, with just a hint of the Enlightened language that she must have picked up on from being held captive so long.

Nothing made sense. How could a human, have the power of an elf? Was she like Sophie? A second project Moonlark? Or was she just trained in speaking English, and then forgotten most of the Enlightened language? But elves don't just forget the Enlightened language. Do they?

"Ah, you're trying to make sense of it all, aren't you? Well, too bad I won't help you out. You'll have to figure that one out for yourself," The woman turned to Abigail, "Abigail, spyball please."

"Yes, Mommy." Abigail handed her mother a spyball hidden inside the stuffing of her Teddy Bear. What a creep.

"Show me Biana Vacker," She said to it. I tried to keep myself from gasping. She shoved the spyball close to my face. And I saw Biana talking to Sophie. They were hugging, and laughing too. She looked so gorgeous. Like an Angel.

"You agree to help us find Keefe, or she dies."

Suddenly everything stopped. My thoughts became a blur, any words died in my throat.

"So, Tam. What will it be? You help us, or you go free but without a girlfriend to go home to."

The answer was clear. Clear as the difference between day and night.

"I'll help you," I whispered.

"What was that?"

"I'll help you," I snapped.

"Ooh, careful there tough guy. We don't want to hurt Miss Vacker now, do we?" She cackled. Red hot anger made me clench my sore fists behind the chair.

"Nighty-night, Tammy," Abigail sang, and before I could even comprehend what that meant, I felt a sharp pain on the back on my head. Then everything went black.

Oooooooooooooooo what a cliff-hanger am I right??

Heh. Heh... Heh. Sorry guys!
