Chapter Twenty-Four~Edaline

I collapsed on the green pastures of Havenfield, immediately the chill from the forest became warmer. I stood up quietly, and noticed Silveny, Luna, and Wynn all sleeping under the Panakes tree. Normally, Sophie might be under there with her makeshift bed.

But she wasn't.

Sophie was gone.

And Tam.

Tam was...

"BIANA!" Someone shouted from inside Sophie's house. I looked up to Edaline running towards me, a worried look on her face.

Edaline put a hand on my shoulder, and tears filled my eyes as I collapsed into her, her pjs were soft, with deep green stripes.

"I'm so sorry Edaline," I choked as she stroked my hair, "I said-she said she would come with me," I hiccuped, "And then he was gone-and then she was too... The Neverseen. Their eyes, everywhere and I-"

"Biana," She whispered, looking me in my eyes, "Sh, sh, sh, it's gonna be okay. Let me get you inside, Alden, Della, and Fitz are already at Havenfield. We've been worried sick," She paused, "Wait, where's Sophie?"

My throat went suddenly dry, and I couldn't speak. I couldn't even look at her, as I shook my head. She put a hand over her mouth as tears ran down her cheeks. Tears filled my own eyes.

"I'm so sorry," I whispered, backing away slowly.

"Biana," She said softly, not looking at me, "It's not your fault."

It was.

"It is..." I bit my lip. I continued to back away. And Edaline didn't stop me. She didn't stop me. And that was enough for me to break into a full on run. I could barely hear the sounds of my parents yelling my name into the wind as they slammed open the doors.

I ran and ran. And I didn't stop until I reached the leapmaster Foxfire. I picked somewhere random, and then glittered away.
