A/n- I want to first apologize how long this took me. Hopefully I can get back to posting more often.

I will say that maybe some people are out of character in certain parts but it had to fit my story and the dynamic Y/n has with some people. Thank you for understanding

Y/n sat at the table, eating the breakfast Shinya had prepared. She watched him as he made himself food, wanting to ask a question but afraid to ask.

"Have you guys chosen your Hero names?" Shinya asked, grabbing a cup from the cabinet above him

"Yes," Y/n mumbled, her voice could barely be heard. She didn't want to say her Hero name.

Shinya turned around, an eyebrow raised from the switch in Y/n's tone. He stared at her for a moment, trying to read her facial and body language. Her posture was slumped, her eyes unable to look at his, and her lips thinned against each other. "Please don't tell me you're as lame as your dad and just chose your regular name."

Y/n snorted at the insult. "No, I just haven't picked one yet" She stared at Shinya, waiting for him to give some kind response, but there was only silence.

"I know you hate Heroes, and this isn't the lifestyle you strive for, but it's the one you are working for" He turned off the stove, opened a cabinet to grab a plate, and poured the eggs onto the plate. "Why do you hate the hero society so much?" he asked.

Y/n thought about the question. There were many reasons why she hated the hero society; the way they shamed villains for their actions, but heroes turned around and did the same, and all of a sudden, it was okay. Portraying villains as some criminal when most of the time, they were made that way because heroes didn't save them, the way society hates villains for killing. Still, if a hero does it, they throw a parade, but there was one thing that always upset her. During interviews, and even at the sports festival.

"How women are seen as lower than men" Her posture changed. She sat straight at the edge of her seat, eager to continue the conversation. "Why in interviews are women asked about their costume or if they plus another hero are dating" Her voice gets louder with every sentence. "Why aren't we asked why we became a hero, how our recent fight went? In the sports festival, Bakugou was told to go easy on Uraraka because she was a girl" at this point, she was practically laughing, remembering how pathetic those pros who booed Bakugou had to be.

Shinya smiled. The rage that went through Y/n when speaking was something he hadn't seen in a long time. He was about to speak, but Y/n got out of her chair and began her rant again.

"And the stupid hero ranking. Why the fuck are we ranking heroes. That only puts them against each other because they feel the need to be number one" She rubbed the back of her nape, breathing in and out, trying to cool off the heat that rushed her face. "Heroes should be satisfied with the smiles of the people they saved, not by the number they're placed in."

Shinya was over the roof at this point. He saw a shimmer in her eyes that he hadn't seen before. A glow that only appears when you are genuinely passionate about something: "You remind me of a Phoenix," he smiled, handing her water to cool off. She only stared back with her head tilted. "A Phoenix, to rise from the ashes. You want to fix the Hero society and create a new one where everyone is welcomed and treated equally. Burning the corrupted one we have now and create a new one."

"Phoenix, huh" Y/n whispered to herself. She repeated the word over and over again. Liking how it swiftly rolled off her tongue. Phoenix

—-------

Both Y/n and Shinya were strolling outside. His agency needed heroes roaming around since there was talk about a villain attack that had happened recently. Shinya thought since he hadn't taught Y/n about what to do about different situations happening when civilians or fans confront you. Y/n wasn't necessarily a people person, but in this line of work, if there was one mess-up with a fan, you were done for it. Hero's work was saving people, but their reputation was also needed to keep up.
