A/n- yes this chapter is short I'm sorry but if I added all the scenes that are supposed to take place within the exam arc then it would've felt as if Its being dragged on.Finally, the weekend arrived, and though it took a lot of convincing, Y/n's parents allowed her to go to the study session with Momo. She took public transportation to Momo's home. Arriving at the gate was the least surprising; Y/n knew that Momo came from a wealthy family, but the size of her house blew away every imagination. A butler waited at the door for every guest's arrival.
"You must be L/n" He smiled.
Y/n didn't know what to do or say; she just nodded.
"Well allow me to take your jacket" He helped her remove the piece of clothing and guided her inside the house. They entered the dining hall, where the rest of the students that were invited sat. "As i told the other I am at your service so should you need anything please ask"
Y/n sat next to Mina, nudging her shoulder. "To be rich,' She chuckled.
Mina nodded. "Damn right"
Y/n examined all the kids that came. Denki sat before her, Jiro next to Momo, and Tsu and Tokoyami beside each other. Everyone took out their paperwork, all different subjects. The butler laid out snacks for everyone, some healthy while others junk food. Of course, most of the kids leaned towards the candy and chips.
Mina peaked over to her friends' papers; she was looking over old tests that were graded. She stared at the left-hand corner, the grades ranging from 98 to 100. "You already know the subjects; why are you here again?" She asked, biting into another chip
Y/n cracked her fingers, feeling the stiffens creeping in. "you're the one who begged me to come."
"Y/nnnnnn", Denki whined, tapping his shoes against hers. "Help me."
She rolled her eyes, pulling the empty chair next to her out. Denki's eyes sparkled, hurrying over to the other side of the table and sitting next to her.
—---
It was much later, everyone leaving Momo's house and all saying goodbye to the butler. Denki had offered to take Y/n home; no, he insisted. She kept telling him no, that she'd be fine, but he wanted to. Not for the reasons one might think. He wanted to spend more time with her.
"Thank you for helping me", Denki smiled.
Y/n nodded, reaching the street of her neighbourhood. "Don't thank me."
Denki strolled along. "I had fu- is that Todoroki" He interrupted himself, seeing the two-toned-haired boy at the front of a house.
Y/n squinted as if that helped at all. She hurried over to her house, wondering how and why Todoroki was there. "Todoroki?" She called out
Todoroki shifted his gaze from the front door to her "L/n, Denki", he bowed slightly.
She turned to her blonde friend "Thanks for walking me home, Denki. I'll see you at school," She mumbled, not looking at him.
Denki thinned his lips, knowing it was his cue to leave them alone. "Bye, Y/n"
Todoroki looked at him for a moment, then back at Y/n. He opened the folders in his hand, taking a piece of paper out. "I realized I accidently took one of your notes. I apologize"
Y/n couldn't help but laugh. She thought he was only formal during school hours, but no, that was just his personality. He was formal no matter the time. She took the paper. "Thank you, but how do you know where I live?" She asked, the laughing matter now gone when she remembered she had never told anyone besides Mina and Midoriya.
"I asked Midoriya and he panicked at first but reluctantly gave me your address", Todoroki stated
She scoffed, "how nice of him". Silence filled the air. Y/n was never this awkward around other classmates, she usually had no problem laughing and talking with everyone, but with Todoroki, it seemed impossible to crack a joke. "You know you could have waited till the end of the weekend to give it back to me."
He shrugged. "I wanted to make sure you had all the notes to study", He murmured. He is so soft-spoken now; during school, he is so stern, making himself seem more prominent than he is. But now, it was actually like seeing a teenage boy.
She smiled, seeing him in a different light now. Mina's words hit her. "The way he looked at you" echoed in her head. She wondered if he was looking at her differently now. She heaved, letting go of her friend's voice. "Thank you"
Todoroki nodded, turning his body into an angle. "Have a nice night."
She watched her classmate leave, waiting until he was a good distance away. Y/n smiled at his figure disappeared in the night mist. She turned to her door, one foot stepping above the other. Her hand reached for the knob, and as she turned it, a sharp ache shot through her chest. Her body leaning forward, she placed a hand at the door, catching herself. Her head dangled while her remaining hand was placed on her chest. She gasped for air, the oxygen in her lungs feeling non-existent. "I haven't used my" another inhale, more painful than the other's "quirk".
Y/n tried her best to inhale air. The wind was completely knocked out of her, and usually, these were signs of her limit, but she hadn't used her quirk at all. Why was she feeling like this? After a few more heaves, she was able to breathe normally again. She opened the door, attempting to act as if she wasn't near death just outside. Her parents welcomed her with a warm smile, just like always. They offered her food as part of the routine, but she declined, saying she ate at Momo's house.
F/n made room on the couch for his daughter. He motioned his hand to the space. Once Y/n accompanied that area, he slumped his arm over her shoulder, kissing her head softly. "Tell me how it went."
The happy family sat there, talking about their day. They laughed and listened to one another. It was a picture-perfect moment, but Y/n couldn't help but think about what happened outside. This attack had felt more painful than the others. Typically it was just a simple headache here and there, some hand pains, but nothing a good rest and a trip to the nurse's office couldn't fix. But this, it was pure agony. It was near death.
