Part of this chapter is lore and part is filler but I wanted to get something out
Y/n lays in her bed, sore from all the exams' events. It had only been two days since everything had occurred. Currently, Y/n listens to Shinya and her parents argue. They assumed she was fast asleep since it was early in the morning, but she couldn't rest.
"Why didn't you tell me she got it?" Shinya scoffed. He was disgusted by his friend.
"Shinya, I love you like a brother, but it doesn't concern you," F/n sighed. He had been pacing in circles.
M/n ran her hands through her hair while the men continued to argue about her daughter.
"I'm her mentor," Shinya hushed, afraid he'd wake Y/n up. He had been hard on her the past few days and possibly overboard with the exam, but it was all to prepare her. "You know what your parents ha-"
"Don't." F/n closed his fist, forcing Shinya to stop talking. "I have it handled." He released his friend.
Shinya wiped his mouth. "I trust you," and he left their home with those simple three words. It didn't matter if he genuinely meant what he said. He now knew what was going on and would focus more on Y/n.
Y/n should have gone to the room and demanded answers. She should have pleaded with her father to tell her what was happening. So many choices, yet they all end with the same outcome. She stayed in bed, not sleeping, not resting, just staring at the ceiling. She knew exactly what they were talking about, her entity. The entity seemed better than everyone made it out to be. Her limit had come quicker than usual, but her power was at an all-time high.
Her thoughts were interrupted by the phone buzzing. Her hand knew where to go and which button was to silence it. Then again, buzz, buzz, buzz. This time, she grabbed it, pressing the green icon.
"Hello," She murmured, the phone to her ear.
"Y/n," Denki's voice blasted in her ear. She had forgotten to lower the volume. "Most of class 1-A is going to the mall, and Midoriya said to invite you, then ask if you'd invite Todoroki."
Finally, news to get her out of bed. She pushed herself up with her elbow, leaning over to the clock beside her. "Sure, but why can't Midoriya invite Todoroki on his own?"
"Said that Todoroki likes you more."
She stopped midway to the bathroom. Mina had seriously gotten into her head. "Yeah, I'll ask". She ended the call, and the room was silent again.
"He's only a boy."
Her head snapped towards the mirror, her reflection staring back at her. They were identical with an ever so slight difference. The eyes. Her reflection had eyes of hunger. Hunger for something far more sinister than the mind can imagine.
"Not now," Y/n groaned. It started to happen more often. Her entity is talking to her in all kinds of reflections. Any chance she got, she'd speak to Y/n. Even without one, her voice invades every inch of her, whispering, calling, tempting her.
She pushed away the voice and dialed Todoroki's number. Again, she stared at the green button. It would be more appropriate to call. It was so last minute, and a message would take too long to look at and answer. She moved her thumb to the mail icon, typed the message, and pressed send. Her heart thumped aggressively in her chest. This all seemed so stupid. It was just one message to her classmate: why should it matter? Even with all the convincing, she waited to see if he'd answer. Of course, he wouldn't. He's Todoroki, the son of endeavor. He may be off doing something else on a weekend.
Y/n placed her phone on the bed and went on with life. She got ready for the mall. Now seemed like the most difficult challenge, facing her parents. It felt like little time had passed since Shinya left. She didn't want to barge in, so she made her presence known.
"Hey, mom, dad!" She called out before making it to the living room. "I'm going to go to the mall with some friends."
F/n nodded, instinctively grabbing his wallet while his wife hugged their daughter. He couldn't be bothered with counting how much to give. He grabbed a few bills and handed them to her. "Be safe." He kissed her head, pulling away almost instantly. "Sweetie," he whispered, his voice straining as he tried to speak. "You'd tell me if something was wrong, right?"
Y/n knew of her father's ability to feel a person. He could feel their blood flow, their heartbeat, anything and everything. She had been feeling dizzy lately but labeled that stress from the exams. "I would," She smiled, hugging her dad tightly. "I'd tell both of you." her hand gripped her mother's.
—----
Mina and Denki waited at the entrance for their friend. Y/n turned the corner, meeting her friends with a bright smile and then a smirk on all their faces. She was confused about what caused the sudden reaction.
"Is it just us 4?"
Her body almost froze. The voice was all too familiar. She turned, giving a gentle smile. "You made it, Todoroki"
Todoroki nodded. "I would have responded to you, but I was getting dressed." He walked next to her as they made their way to the rest of the group. "Thank you for the invite."
She only nodded, not knowing what to say. This was so foolish. She had never felt this way over a boy, not when Midoriya was at her house, not when she and Bakugou were alone. They were two people she considered attractive in the class, yet she felt absolutely nothing around them. Why Todoroki? What was so special about him? They talked a bit more since the hero-killer incident and passed notes in class, but mainly because she had started it. They were typical classmates, so why did her heart beat differently with him around?
"Todoroki!" Mina squealed, not for herself but for her friend. "I am so glad you made it. Midoriya, Uraraka, Momo, Syu, Kirishima, and Jiro are waiting at the food court."
Y/n was stunned to hear the number of people willing to come. She'd think mostly everyone was busy since the trip to the camp would be soon. She and Todoroki stood in the middle, Denki next to Y/n and Mina beside Todoroki. They all smiled and laughed. Even Todoroki could crack a smile ever so often.
"Midoriya," Denki waved the rest of his friends in the distance.
They all ran, hugging one another, and despite the apparent shock, Midoriya still hugged Todoroki tightly. Y/n couldn't help but giggle at how awkward he was standing there while Midoriya looked like a koala.
For the remaining time, everyone window-shopped. Momo and Todoroki had offered to pay but declined. Momo still bought a few items, and other than food, no one else purchased anything. Y/n did, however, stare at a couple of things, and Todoroki stayed back to stare at them a bit longer. Now, hours passed, and most students left.
Midoriya, Todoroki, and Y/n roaming the sunset streets. They both had offered to walk Y/n home.
It had been silent for a while until they reached a stop sign. "Midoriya," Todoroki spoke, looking to his left. "Don't you turn left here?"
Midoriya knew they'd be passing his house to take Y/n home, but he didn't mind walking back the extra way. "Uhh yeah, but it's fine." He attempted to continue walking, but his halts stopped, noticing that his friends weren't beside him.
"Go home," Y/n smiled, hugging him. "I'll be alright."
Midoriya knew better than to protest against her. He was one, scared, and two, sure she'd probably use her quirk against him. He bid both of his friends goodbye and walked into the day's subtle shadows. Todoroki began to walk again, the silence back into the air. Y/n huffed, a bit bummed that the only reason he spoke up was to get rid of Midoriya and then back to being iced.
"You don't have to walk me the whole way?" She wondered why he was so willing to ensure she went safe and stayed the entire mall trip.
"I enjoy your company."
And before she could even press about his choice of words, they were in front of her door. Todoroki was standing at the end of the property.
"Thanks," she mumbled.
