Marco.
It was Marco who came into the room. I had expected to see Dante who had always come here every night since I arrived. I sat up on the bed resting my back on the headboard.
Crossing my arms on my chest, I threw him a glare but it changed to that of worry once I saw his head which was wrapped in a bandage.
"What happened to your head?" I asked. Lorenzo had said he was busy and I had not expected the busy would have involved his head wrapped in that bandage. I choose not to think of 'the busy' involved him doing.
He scratched the back of his neck nervously and got into the bed resting his back on the headboard also.
"Nonna hit a pot on me repeatedly after you left, I've been the the hospital since I almost lose consciousness" He muttered. Silence fell over as we both stared at the wall across the room.
"I'm sorry about that" I said after some time. It was funny how their Nonna still treated them as kids even though they were mature adult.
He chuckled "I should be the one apologizing for the situation you found yourself in as a result of our fathers"
I nodded "Everything happens for a reason Marco. It's not your fault, we should be blaming our parents instead" I closed my eyes taking a deep breath in. There was never how I envisioned my life to result in.
What if my life turns out to be like those books I read when I was young?.
The mafia wife that was always expected to fit in into the society or someone that is used by her husband for selfish purposes.
The don always treat the lady right, acting like a perfect darling during courtship and when she marries him, he would suddenly reveal who he really his.
"Stop over thinking it Ava" Marco's voice brought me out of my train of thoughts. I opened my eyes, he was still staring at the wall across with a soft smile playing in his lips.
I took in his features. He had not shave for days with the rough stubble that were already forming with his sharp jaw well hidden beneath. From his side view I could see he had not comb his hair, the part the bandage didn't cover.
I turned back facing the wall. I've been itching to ask someone about my real family. Dante would probably laughter at me so he was not an option, Lorenzo was not even in my list, I still kind of get scared being in his presence.
The way he stared at me with a blank face was enough to to put everything on edge, he was always calculative of everything he says and does.
"Marco, can I ask you something?" I asked lowering my voice.
"Anything"
"Tell me about my real family" I demanded. He rubbed the bandage flinching when it landed on a particular spot, that must be where the injury will be in.
"The Rossi are your real family. Lorenzo had this creepy investigator who did some findings about you. That was how we found out" He stated. He took my hands in his rubbing small circles at the back of my palm.
Rossi.
The name rang a bell but I could not remember where I had seen or heard about the name.
"Tell me more about them, don't leave anything out" I urged on nudging him in the ribs so he would look at me.
He finally gave the attention I needed as he turned his head side wards. He asked whether I wanted to know more about them which I gave a positive answer to, there was no harm in knowing about them right?
